Mark when I drove past the ground earlier in the week, thier is clear evidence that the work clearing the mound area had started, other than that I could not tell you anymore.
I know it is very clever and fashionable, but extremely unhelpful and I am almost tempted to reply initially and negatively. I am more concerned about the increased capacity - so it could be quite unhelpful to poke fun at poor old Braintree's fixture congestion considering that, so I am told, the steel terracing is coming from Braintree.
Whats all this WDYPTC business all the time, should 200 season ticket holders all ring the club? or is it easier, and courtesy, for the club to issue fairly regular communications to their fans/customers.
I have, and I can see the improvements for sure, but floodlights aren't on all day, and not everyone can walk past, nor should have to, to get an update.
Maybe tests need to be done etc? I could have sworn i read the floodlights would be done within 2 weeks and it looks like they have been...
Does seem a bit of unreasonable requests and slagging off of the club by a few for the sake of it. If they do as they said in their statement wheres the issue? Should they update all the time or say oh Johnny Building Company cant make next friday so its going to be Thursday week etc on everything?
If they say the Lights are being done Wednesday and something goes wrong do they have to issue another statement when everyone gets wet knickers saying OH NO THE FLOODLIGHTS ARENT DONE.

I do not expect to have updates all the time, I just get fed up when a fellow exile asks if there has been any further work and gets the usual WDYPTC response. We rely heavily on info on this site and on the official site for updates because we do not live in the area and have no immediate contact with those supporters who do and who can notice progress - surely it would be far worse if we bothered club officials? Pleased about the floodlights, perhaps now BT will show one of our remaining matches?
Sorry if i am seeming like 'the select few'.......sorry i cant get to games right now or the anniversary dinner as i have an illness in my family.....all i ask for is to be told when things are DONE!

I cant just wander past the ground!!
I wont ****ing bother having any concerns then!!!
As another exile it would be quite nice if someone, somewhere, did maybe a weekly update on the progress to date, just confirming what's been done or what's in the middle of being done. Having a pop at people who support the club and just want to be kept informed as to how things are going seems a bit harsh.
The club issued a statement on groundworks which was a few weeks back , I do not spend everyday at the club , nor am I aware as to the status of ground updates
Maybe those in a position who do know whats happening who use this forum can update everyone , no one is having a pop at any supporters
Perhaps "the club" or the employees there of should listen to the thoughts and concerns of their fans/customers and effectively employers when they make reasonable statements about continued lack of communication in a reasonable polite manner on a public forum. Its not like anyone is being unreasonable/abusive etc. I give up. Honestly.
A long standing fan asks a reasonable question in a reasonable manner and it descends into a slagging match. Are we intent on alienating the few supporters we have?
Floodlights are not on other than when playing. We haven't had a home game in ages. I live next to the ground and don't know if works have been done. Mark lives 50-75 miles away. Is he wrong to ask?
"If they do as they said in their statement wheres the issue?"
There was none until someone decided to take the conversation into a "slagging the club off" direction. Get over yourselves. Communicate to your customers, some of who are owed money, or lose them. Choice is yours. Many are not local, and to assume they are able to find out the answers for themselves is naive. We don't expect constant communication, but a website update once in a while, if beyond a club at Conf Prem level, is pathetic.
Negative? No. Correct. Yes. This club has many great things about it as evidenced in times of adversity. But communication is so easy, and to not do so is ridiculous, or rude, or both.

But someone knows the works going on. The builders are hardly trespassing. And someone should update people. It is courtesy. Easy. Quick. Simple. Free to do. Etc.
and if this is true ...
Maybe those in a position who do know whats happening who use this forum can update everyone
Then those people in the know should hang their heads.

Kevin if there wasnt an issue before some slanging match... i guess this thread is just another excuse for a good old moan. No wonder a few Dartford fans like posting on here as Welling fans.
Being sensible, i would assume that when works are completed the club will state that things have been done.
Club issue statement, works to be done, work is being done, update when things are finished, If thats the club being bad/secretive/unseasonable.... people are being very harsh.
I disagree. An update two weeks down the line, especially given no game to visually see any works, would not go amiss. As proven by Mark's original post.

Let's not pretend the club took it upon themselves to update us either...WUSA had to put across, in quite strong terms, that the fans required an update.
Should also point out that Mark didn't ask if the work had been done/moan about whether it would be finished on time, he simply asked what had started.
Anyway, amongst the bickering we seem to have concluded that:
- The floodlights have been upgraded
- The mound area is being cleared
I think this has blown up completely out of proportion to the issue. I may be mistaken, but I don't think Mark was looking for an official response from the club - just a bit of info from supporter chums on this forum. "WDYPTC" is not helpful, but we got the info about the floodlights and that was helpful.
Nice Tom. Fine, we don't always get what we want. I'll bear that in mind when asked to contribute time, money or effort into projects for the clubs benefit. Manners cost nothing. Find another club in our division that wouldn't communicate issues like this to its fanbase.
They have communicated. They said we are going to do this.
When they have done it they will say so.
Kevin please dont cease giving your time, money and effort to the club, These are when the fans get to share special times such as the 50th dinner etc. The work the committee did for that was superb and i can only offer my thanks to those that give their time and effort for the greater good, was a fantastic night, icant wait for the 100th..
When trolls or new posters raise these issues, fine, take a pinch of salt.
When its people that have supported the club 20 plus years, myself and numerous others this season, perhaps we need to accept communication is poor.
I don't expect WUFC to become rich overnight, or develop a superb ground, or a title winning Conf Prem side, but if the odd email or website update is too much to ask then we might as well pack up.
My main problem with this forum is with numerous posts wanting various information. Every day through the transfer window people wanted updates on if we had signed anyone. Apart from an update on the site when we actually signed someone, who do you expect to answer!? Who knows what's going on?
Same with the ground improvements. Who do you expect to come on here and give updates? If the club won't do it then who do you think will answer it? I was at the club for a WUSA meeting last night and the mound by the gate has been cleared, other than that I'm not sure what's been done/being done.
Everyone moans when people say WDYPTC? But actually, picking up the phone and speaking to Barrie or Barry will give you all the answers you need, instead of asking on the forum. The reason there are no updates is because no-one has any news to update you with.
The club issued a statement and I would like to think they will issue another one when things have been done, if you need to know anything then in all seriousness, phoning the club is your best option!!

Right everyone calm down, I and the rest of the WUSA committee met in the wings bar yesterday and work is underway, quite a large part of the mound by the exit has been removed. I believe we are waiting for another grab truck to pick up load, the trench is going to be dug, concrete base is then go down, for pre built turnstile block to go on this, retaining wall will also then be built, we are putting additional terracing on new stand side outside e and b clubhouse. Additional row of seats are going in old stand on the front row. Most of the work will be on extra crash barriers in the home end, this will add to capacity as well. Not sure if floodlights have been done yet.
I think the main frustration is a lack of football recently, especially at PVR so no news, once we have a game next week you should all see with your own eyes how we progress over the coming weeks.
I'm sorry my flippant comment has caused such distress. I posted on here on Monday saying that the mound by the gate had been turned to rubble and just wondered how much more people expected to have happened since. Only 39 spectators attended the E&B game on Tuesday so it's likely that none were Welling supporters therefore who could possibly have a further update.
We all want to see progress but with no games we just have to be patient. It doesn't matter if you live within the same borough or in another continent.
Transfer issues can't be made public or our targets would get snapped up from under us. An email or a website post stating what's been done this far and what's outstanding takes five minutes. There is no excuse.
Thats the point right from the start of this.....there may be a game coming up so everyone can see what has happened or is happening......unfortunately it is unlikely i will be able to be there just like i have been home and away for years....thats why i asked......Sorry ...all i wanted to do is stay in touch with MY club

Mark, ordinarily I would not give a fig about "WDYPTC" - it has passed into common parlance on this forum. However, knowing Mark X has not been able to come to games or the anniv dinner because of illness in his family, the response on this occasion "got my goat" as Nigel Ransom would say! Rant over and sorry if I upset anybody - and thank you for the information Matt. When I ask if there is any news etc, Polo, it is not a three-line whip for somebody to supply information - just a request to fellow supporters on this forum (who have the time and inclination) if they have any information which they would care to share not just with me but with other forum users (in the case of ground improvements, anybody who has walked by the ground or had some reason to be there) that's all - or even a bit of banter in the form of speculation. If I was really concerned, personally, then I would indeed PTC.

Might I suggest Kevin pops down to the ground, asks the appropriate questions and reports back to Mark and Jeff with the answers.
There is nothing too unusual about people wanting to be up to date about what is going on at their club. Wouldn't it be great if brief simple up-dates were made available by the people who do know what is going on? Anyway, getting a result on Saturday should be the focus now, because if we do then we should be safely back in this league next season...which is a massive achievement!
