Not for the first time this season we couldn't muster a full bench on Saturday....of the four we had a sub keeper (always should have) a ("player") manager who probably didn't even have his kit on and was about as likely to play as I was and a couple of wingers - not exactly a great balance. Nobody could foresee Connor's injury and/or the sending off but at least with a balanced five man bench we could have done something rather than put square pegs in round holes all over the pitch.
Even allowing for supsensions and recent departures I calculated from the back of the programme that we had 24 players available for selection for the Halifax game. I know we have a few injuries but the two lads with mumps were both present and mingling with the fans so I see no reason why they couldn't mingle with their fellow players on the bench?! Even if you don't have 16 players you could kit them up and sit them on the bench and at least give the opposition the impression that you have 16 players to select from?!
I don't care about Billericay, VCD, Walton Casuals or whatever other far flung outposts some of our "squad" represent on a Saturday. What I care about is WUFC and, if they are our players, then they should be recalled on a Friday night to ensure we have a full compliment to select from at each and every game.

He was fully kitted up and was training as hard as anyone else before the game!!
I do agree with what you say, though. With no other fit defender available, Barney Williams should have been recalled, and there should always be five on the bench!
It seems that Malachi Hudson is doing well at Walton Casuals - NLP report almost ecstatic about his man of the match performance. If we can't recall him this season, I hope he will feature next season. Also, is the reserve's centre half, Taylor (I think) ready for first team football? We may need him!
