Superb stuff. Three of our most important players.
Hopefully plenty more from the current squad to come

Fantastic news. Surprised Daisy has managed to keep hold of Butcher after calling him a league keeper all season! I'd be delighted to see Faz stay here for the rest of his career, and good to see Gallagher commit as Fairclough has no doubt been sniffing around him! They all know this is the best place for them.

More to come soon with any luck. Good work Daisy

Great news. I wonder how many games Faz has played for Welling now?

The next game he plays will be his 200th.

Just hope we have good sell on clauses in the paperwork and not the normal 5k

So, if someone's agent says he will only sign if there is a 5k get out clause, would you tell them:

A) Sling your hook

or

B) Lets make the most of him while we have the chance.

Welling cannot and will not go down the Salisbury route of paying top bucks then grizzling that they are in financial trouble so sometimes something you would not want to be in a contract has to be included.

You're right Danson. But I'd hope talented young players like Gallagher recognise their own talents enough to know that they could comfortably fetch more than 5k.

Would Luton have baulked at a release clause of 10-12k for Fraser Franks if that's what it had been set at? I doubt it. He's been a rock in defence for them and will continue that next year in League Two. An extra 5k is nothing to them, but very significant to us.

We've got a good group of nice lads here who have their heads screwed on, so I'd hope a compromise could be found between player, club and agent (if they have one). 5k was a bit of a raw deal for a player of Fraser's quality.

Cannot agree more AW........Contracts are TWO WAY things and need to agreed by both sides...If they cannot be agreed then and agreement is not reached!

We tend to work on 'one way' agreements and they are not our side!!

The point being....we lose a fantastic player in say January we have no time and no money to replace them.......I dont think that is a good way

5k was a terrible deal and yes maybe sometimes we should say...well as we cannot reach an agreement then we go our seperate ways!!!

If a player won't sign unless a clause like the £5k is put in his contract, a club like Welling with it's budget is always gonna be in this situation.

Fraser, England C Captain, was clearly worth far more than a paltry £5k, but unless crowds double or a big sponsor comes in, nothing will change in reality.

Just be thankful there is a manager here who has pulled several rabbits out of hats this season.....

You can turn that round and say a club that always puts those low clauses in, will always have a budget like Welling's.

The point is these players must know what they are worth - and its more than 5k. I don't see why a compromise couldn't be reached at 10k or thereabouts, a reasonable fee that isn't going to scare off any of the big boys should they come calling. If that happens, they go with our blessing and Daisy can work his magic by bringing in a replacement, with a bit left over to contribute to debt repayments, ground improvements etc.

If they refuse and are under the age of 24 we'll get a tribunal fee, which could/should be in excess of that figure. I'm sure our talented youngsters have enough sense to see that Daisy is the man to get the best out of them and help them progress. I don't think any of them are desperate for an immediate move, so there shouldn't be any need to bend over by agreeing to such low release clauses.

Attendances, sponsorships etc are always going to represent most of our turnover, but they're completely independent from fees for players. It's not as if we have to focus on one at the expense of the other. Every little helps.

 Is the correct answer!

Jamie attracts young players to the club by telling them he wont stand in their way if a club higher up the pyramid comes in for them. Putting big sell on clauses in their contracts will firstly stop the players signing in the first place and secondly put off the bigger clubs from taking a chance on those players at all.

Would have thought a £10K release fee plus 20 % sell on clause wouldn't put teams off but would increase the likelihood of a Welling cash windfall sometime in the future?

The bottom line is we kept Fraser for half a season more than we might have done though admittedly the fee received was low.

I reckon the Club already knows this and never forget that the power is the favour of the player.

What Spitey says is bang on.
