Three points but boy if it was on pocession of play we would have lost hands down. Bognor played ball to feet for all the game but did not penetrate. We continued to hoof the ball forward and for the crowd it certainly wasnt the best game to watch. Still I would take the result but had to stop on the way home in the Turnpike for two pints because it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Whilst it may not have been the most exciting football last night it was what was needed on the night. Bognor, who are no mugs, were frustrated by our thoroughly boring, but ultimately effective, return to allowing much of the game to be played in our third of the pitch during the first half. The second half when we played more attacking football was more enjoyable and the final 10 minutes or so when Bognor (ably assisted by a couple of strange refereeing decisions) went all out to try and get at least a point was quite tense.
For me Bodkin, whose goal was an absolute peach, just shaded Daisy for man of the match. Any concerns there may have been about Bods frame making him too lightweight must surely have been dispelled since his arrival as a regular starter in the New Year.
Good news is that Jamie Turner's dental surgery has been postponed till the closed season. No disrespect intended to Vince Bartram but I'd much rather have an in form regular keeper between the sticks. Last night was Jamie's 8th clean sheet in 26 League games.
