This sounds like a great idea but as Paul White mentioned this is something he can't commit to with his workload. This should come from the club in my opinion asap as the decisions on what initiatives are put into place will have to be taken at board level. I know there's talk of a working party but will this delay things? Unless it is set up and sorted pretty quickly.
We need the board looking at suggestions from across fans, players, coaching staff, youth teams plus other clubs' ideas and even, wait for it, coming up with some of their own. Then get Barrie and Barry to OK what can be done. The club needs to pinpoint a date once the fixtures come out and throw everything at it.
If there is a working party set up can we email ideas to them or add on here? Here's some to get going;
Pay what you want for all fans
All kids under 12 free
All kids 12-18 - £1
All players can bring up to 10 friends and family for a fiver each (I'm guessing they only get a couple of comps)
Season ticket holders can bring a friend for half price
All Armed forces free entry or discounted
All emergency services personnel free entry or discounted
Community volunteers/workers free
Bexley council (around 1,300 workers) discounted
Could Millwall or Charlton advertise one of our Target 1000 games if it doesn't clash?
Invite press but also set up a small press tent or area where they can get an A4 print of facts about the club they can work into an article, free tea/coffee, contacts for interviews and time slots before/after the game
Text and email our database of supporters' contact details (see below)
Tie in with a local business (not just high street but big borough businesses like, Premier Inn or Coca-Cola could be approached) who can push it - they get free advertising with us and we get it with them
Ads, offers for people using the new sports bar
Few concerns though, are there enough board meetings to discuss and cement the ideas? Once we pinpoint a date are the club able to hit the press and social media?
The club really needs to have about four of five people (pay local students?) standing outside the gates with clipboards during our friendly matches gathering names with either an email address or mobile number. Then the club could look at bulk text messages and email notifications. Not just for Target 1000.
It also needs to be stressed to the board that getting 1,000 plus is not about making money on that particular game. It's about getting people in who might come back, getting press coverage and looking attractive to potential sponsors and people who follow us through the papers.
I think Matt was looking to set up a working party to start putting some ideas together and looking at ways forward. I'm more than happy to put myself forward to help out. Guys, any help on this would be very welcome and would benefit the club. If attendances could get over 1000 then the club can progress further on and off the pitch. It would be nice to get some others apart from the same old volunteers who help. Provide a fresh input and ideas and support your team.

It was discussed we need the community scheme to be pivotal in this. I think Gary's ideas hit the mark apart from pay what you want which I'm not a fan off. The idea of engaging with targeted group of primary schools is something we should embrace, adopt a school of the week and really make their match day experience special. Penalties or small sided game on pitch. Other idea is to really work on the 12-18 year olds simply not coming in the numbers we need. The other group are FL and PL season ticket holders of fellow London clubs can they get discounts. We do need to data capture all of this so can we can communicate to all with offers and messages during the season. A meeting within 2 weeks is advisable

Agree it would be very nice to get some new people coming forward...but are new people always actively encouraged?

If the club had a list of fans they could contact via post, email, send regular updates and text messages we might just get some input. Not everyone reads this board. The club's lack of moving into the digital age over the previous years is coming home to roost on things like this. I've just finished a book about a Man Utd fan who decides to give up and follow Dagenham & Redbridge. Really good insight into League 2 and how clubs are actively using social media, using incentives to get fans into the ground and much more.
Is it a good read, I believe that using social media, texting and emailing and the only real way to engage with the widest audience, hardly anyone reads the free newspapers anymore.

It's not the only way but you can reach a wide audience via social media. I still believe that, long term, getting schools interested is a initiative but with players and supporters alike working, it has to be the 'community' people pushing it. Some of Gary's ideas are excellent for the short term and should be considered at the next board meeting.
by the way, the book I read is called Turning my back on the Premier League. Lots of comparisons between the richest league in the world and League Two.
One example by a League 2 club was 'score twice, pay half'. A club did a deal with a local pizza place so when they scored 2 or more goals, fans paid half price. Simple but effective.
