From the Non League daily.

PENNOCK WOULDN`T SAY NO
13/02/2006

Adrian Pennock, manager of Nationwide South club Welling United, admits he is hoping to catch the eye of a Football League club - but stresses he is in no rush to do so.

Pennock (pictured) has guided his side to the Nationwide South play-off places, but he said: "As a player, my ambitions were to play at the top level, and as a manager that's exactly what I want to do.

"I'm loving it at Park View Road, but if a club came in for me at a high level, I don't think they would stand in my way."

The former Gillingham and AFC Bournemouth defender took over as Wings boss in January 2005, after a spell as assistant-manager of Gravesend & Northfleet.

He added: "I'm learning after every game - I want to take the club as far as it can go, but if it's a League club, it would be silly not to take it up."

Plenty have tried League management too soon and have crashed and burned.  I would hate to see it happen to Ade after making such a positive start to his new career.

Fairly oldish news but still not good for team morale is it? The fact that he could leave at any time is proberly in the players minds now

Not really. In non-league football it's always at the back of your mind that someone who is good at something will move on.

That's what they should all be wanting to do; play at a higher level. Managers too.
