Glad that common sense has prevailed, although the only snag is either need wealthy owner or wealthy (and supportive) council to stump up the £millions to install them.
Was never in favour of them, but have to admit they do make sense now that they're not like the sandpaper carpet QPR used to play on. Less chance of wasted away trips too.

What would happen for an FA Cup tie v a league side?
Greg Dyke is in support of them, and was the one that told the Conference to allow 3G pitches. So I assume the FA would give special dispensation.
Like someone else said it's not like the old days of Preston N.E and Oldham, where nobody wanted to go into a tackle for fear of losing several layers of skin. Although I do wonder if teams playing Maidstone go into games with a slight level of uncertainty in their mind.
The pitch at Samuel Monatgue where the reserves played last season (and the first team trained) is a 4G pitch and seemed very good. The benefit at PVR would be it could be used for training, the Academy and Reserves in addition to first team matches. All we need is for a big winner on the EuroMillions and we are sorted.
I was in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games over the weekend & went to a game at Clyde while I was there. They have a new 3G pitch - this was the first game on a plastic pitch I've seen since Preston back in the 80s & the diffrence is huge. After 10 minutes you forgot they were playing on plastic & it was just a normal game. If anything it was a better game than most I've seen at that level as the pitch encouraged them to keep the ball down & play better football.
What I don't understand is how the Conference can call an EGM to ask member clubs whether they want them, accept the no vote returned, then six months later announce them to be acceptable.
I have seen the development side play at Sammy Montague and while I was standing at the side a huge clearance came straight at me. I was expecting to have to field it or take evasive action only to see it bounce miles over my head and crash into the caged fencing. As a result, I'm still opposed.
