Five at the back, or wing-backs. I'm hoping the later.

Or 4-4-2 with Faz in midfield?

Reading off of sky sounds like Halifax had quite a few chances in the last 15 minutes, lucky to go in level hopefully we can kick on in the second half!

We'll be fine, the BBC site says that Halifax have had only 2 shots on goal more than us.

Reasonable commentary as well, compared to the Torquay bias.

2-0 now.
We've got a lot of players out injured now fair enough, but those playing need to pull their socks up.

Would be nice to see Corne get a chance given the game is pretty much dead.

I'm a Welling fan obviously, but I'm not blinkered and relentlessly positive. We're a small fish in a massive pond I know, but all the same, not good enough so far.

In Jamie and his management team we trust.

The fixture list doesn't help either. We said in pre-season this was going to be a tough season.

Keep the faith.

Oh I have the faith, I don't need to keep it, it's tattoo'd on. But tough start or otherwise, the bottom four go down, and we're in it.

Jamie, in the past many times, has worked miracles. He might need to again. But he can't do it alone. I haven't been impressed with any of the new players YET, I hope I will be, they need to step up to the plate asap.

Things can change very quickly for the positive or the negative. I hope the former.

I have the faith but my main worry after the 1st game is still my main worry now where are the goals going to come from? Really think unless this area addressed fast this is going to a long mofo season COYW

Goals issue was very apparent today.

One shot, one snuffed out one-on-one (bad touch).

St Aime should be back now after his ban, he looked promising in pre season so let's hope he can be our goal machine. Early doors yet and we've played two good teams (Halifax now top). It's when we start losing to the Dartfords, Telfords, Alfretons of this division that we can worry.

3 points against Woking on Sat, COYW!

Joe Healy's injury is a worry. Hope it's not long term.

I'm ok at the moment. Two losses away from home. Torquay away. Kin long trip. The loss was set against a reasonable performance. ( their fans thought we did ok and should of had a pen). Halifax by Spills commentary were a bloody good side. If I remember from last season their home record was great. We lost 3-0 there last season to. I'll stay positive, we aren't that bad. We'll do Woeking next weekend. I wish we could play them every week. Ha! Ha!

Are you implying that we need a goalscorer, Mark?

Surely not? Why didn't you mention this in pre-season ?!?!?

biggrin

Yesterday was as poor as I have seen in a long while. However, the really worrying thing for me was thatI am not sure where I'd start if I was looking to improve it.

The two guys up front will just have to get on with it until the midfield\defence is sorted but what was evident to me yesterday was that currently these guys are not good enough to play the way Daisy wants to play against this standard of opposition (Don't kid yourself that despite the scoreline this was the same level of defeat as last year. They were different to last year but equally effective). I think Daisy will have to work out if we are going to have to change the players or the attempted style of play.

On a different note, their throw in specialist threw flat and fast and therefore needed a run up. Why, after the first few had caused havoc, did we not try putting one of our taller strikers\midfielders about 2ft in front of him when he was taking them. If they jumped it would have blocked the trajectory either blocking the ball or forcing a higher arc making the ball easier to deal with. It couldnt have been any worse than we did as we must have got a head on their set pieces less than 10% of the time anyway.

We started the season a striker light and got exactly what was expected. A challenging season ahead...just hope we have enough. Whatever people say, the 2nd season up is almost always the most crucial for the smaller promoted clubs.

Jamie describes the Wings' performance in the second half as "gutless" in the NLP report.  He talks about making changes, but I don't see how he can make changes outwith our squad within the framework of the tight budget that was set for him at the beginning of the season. Saturday is crucial for confidence and for building further results.

He makes references to changes in personnel. Given he takes a degree of blame off of the forwards for not getting any decent supply, and the starting midfielders were all on the books last year, it looks like changes at the back to me, along with perhaps going back to 4-4-2.

Contract wise, no idea, but I would assume there is a degree of flexibility with some being non-contract ... they can't all be signed up for 12 months or we'd have no options at all.

He now has another forward option with KSA being available although I am not sure how much difference that will make...??

Two tough away games but 0 goals scored and 6 conceded shows me we have problems at both ends of the pitch.

I have an idea - I think the manager should pick the manager. He plays in pre season a fair bit and then sits in the dugout for three games. When he lost his most experienced midfield player after 10 minutes yesterday  it is criminal that he didn't bring himself on.

Having just got around to reading the match programme from Halifax all I can say is What The F**k !!!!
Are they taking the piss? That the worst piece of **** I have read since the NOTW ceased to be. If I remember correctly 11 plays listed in our squad are no longer at the club.
