...and the big question remains, will we have enough to stay up? Any positive responses are most welcome!

looked a lot better on Saturday although I still can't see where our goals will come from but a couple of wins and hopefully we will see an upturn in our fortunes

I attended my first game of the season on Saturday and was really impressed with our performance. If you consider we were playing a team top of the league with a high wage bill and full time we more than matched them and could have even won. What I would like to point out more than anything is - Jamie Day MUST play as much as possible. With many young players the experience he has will help so much as he showed on Saturday. I was therefore a bit worried in the interview when he hinted he may not play too much. He must realise how important he is to this side and we need him.

So I am confident we can stay up and believe we can reach mid table again if we can get the boss on the pitch as many times as possible.

Cheers

Lou

Are negative responses welcome?

Not that I want to write any as I felt Saturday was a massive step in the right direction. But I feel the general lack of debate and willingness to listen to conflicting views is what's killing this forum off.

Agree with Lou. Daisy needs to play, until Joe comes back from injury at the very least. Play as we did on Saturday and we'll be fine.

Any responses are welcome that will encourage this forum to spring into life! I asked for positive because I needed a boost...still hadn't got over that first half hour against Woking!

My own view is that it will be a minor miracle if we can get up to mid-table. We simply don't have the resources to really compete in this league...but it is the league we must try and stay in if we are to further develop as a club.

And that's exactly why I deleted my first account that I'd had on here for a few years, got fed up with the constant arguing and people not listening to opposing views. Hopefully this time round things will change.

I agree that the forum has been very quiet, not sure it's about the lack of debate and willingness to listen. Debate is very much encouraged, I personally just feels it goes to far with some comments. From speaking to various people who used to post on this forum but now don't have said it's because the forum has become too negative.

I think the whole nature of a forum is for debate whether it be positive or negative. I like to call it "objective" and have been positive at times and also negative at times.

To think that people don't post on here because of the negativity is pretty poor in my opinion. We all look at football (and Welling) in different ways and have different views on it. For example someone gave MOTM to Ben Jefford on Saturday when I personally would have picked at least half the team ahead of him - doesn't make them wrong and it doesn't make me right. I think the manager should play more and have said as much on here a few times and would like to think that I was proved correct to some extent in the FGR game. However I don't think it will be a regular thing and he might think differently and it is his decision as to whether he plays or not. If he leaves himself out on a regular basis and we struggle then I will be on here moaning about it again no doubt!

Forums are about opinions and people should express them whether they are positive or negative, popular or unpopular.

I think it comes down to how the team are performing i.e results

If we start winning then it would pick up

Agreed! Mind you, we did have a little period of people accusing others of being dartford fans...what was that all about? I wondered whether some of those doing the accusing were on the terraces near me 20+ years ago...especially when they dart tagged me!! Think we need a little more spice on here rather than the safe views. There are people who get a little irritated when their posts disappear too!

Anyway, back to the question, do you think we will have enough to stay up?

Honest answer is I don't know! I have only seen the three home games and we have improved steadily in those three games. I heard positive reports from Eastleigh but we can't concede three goals away from home every week and expect to survive.

I have confidence in the manager and hope we can improve things in the next few weeks. I think that the league will start to settle down after about 10-12 games and there will be about 7/8 teams towards the bottom (including us) and our job is to come nearer the top of that little group than the bottom come next April.

My one on the Luton match being a "slow burner" for starters?

Anyway, key concern now is that without a couple of wins soon we may be down and out...unless finance destroys another 2 / 3 clubs...known as default save!

I'm not aware of any football team having ever been relegated in September!!

Technically you are of course correct...although the Hyde fans might not agree!!

Just a thought, could we feature the next match at the top of this forum? It was only by reading on here today that I remembered we were playing tonight...and I know that a lot of people just brwose on here now and again...anything to put a few dozen on the attendance...especially mid-week.

That's a good idea actually, for those not checking regularly, especially those not working at a computer all day, it could go undetected.
