I bet you think I'm going to talk about the team, but I think they played really well yesterday. However our support was absolutely sh1t.  I have to say considering we were playing the league leaders, London derby and a cracking game it was so quiet.  How are the team supposed to lift themselves if we can't be bothered, people are quick to point out negatives on certain players at certain games, but you might want to look at your own performances After yesterday!

They did play well yesterday and but for a little poor luck and one defensive slip at the end we would have won versus one of the best, and biggest, sides in the league.

As for support and noise. I never sing. But I don't think people should feel obliged to make noise.

But it's a pity when all the noise is made by the opposition and we are at home. Just about all I heard from Wings fans yesterday was players being slagged off and then people complain when our "support" is not acknowledged by them at the end of the match.

It's almost always a case of the away side makes more noise as they are often several bevvies beyond many of the home side.

Have to say that going to other places home support this season has been good apart from Southport, maybe creating an atmosphere may lift the lads. For example we were much louder at home in the season we got promoted. You are right no one should feel obliged to join in and they don't! So when the team come out to a village green applause then how can you take any inspiration!

I must of been at a different game then as 2nd half I thought we was terrific in our support for our team and I always chip in with the songs :). 1st half though I agree we were pretty pathetic I think we were nervous as last few games been crap and the barnet fans and the guy with the drum must of thought they were in a library lol COYW.

We often make much more noise than the opposition at away games, that's the nature of the best (and with a lot less fans than Barnet).

Barnet away last season they made no noise.

I agree with big Dave second half I thought was buzzing over there until the slip up I was really enjoying myself
Will say tho when you have the likes of beautyman running his heart out that will make any fan cheer then when you got Hudson who can't seem to release the simplest of balls it dose make ua moan

I didn't quite see the buzz myself, we should be louder than that and for both halves, just think it was v poor.

We certainly miss Adam's inventive lyrics. All the players who had individual songs have gone.

Indeed Danson, we need to get a few going, don't think Adam would want the place so flat.

Surely people who come week after week are supporting the team by paying their money at the gate ,buying programmes and merchandise. Not everybody wants to sing and shout but I can say that where I normally stand encouragement is given.

Player singular I think you will find. I am fully behind the Welling players as long as they show me effort regardless of how they play - if they don't fulfil that basic requirement then I am afraid they can expect some stick

As others have said supporters always make more noise away from home aided and abetted quite often by a few pre match shandies.

The atmosphere was quite flat but PVR is not conducive to making a lot of noise. What we need is more bodies through the turnstiles regardless of how much noise they do or don't make.

Some sections of the crowd do try and make noise but since I have been coming to PVR there has never been a great amount of singing
Also the number of people through the gates would help , I read in Saturdays programme that WUSA were looking at a bring a friend idea is there any more
info on this or the Project 1000 idea spoken about as seems to be nothing happening

As I wrote once last week, I can accept mistakes, poor games, bad decision-making, an off day, etc. I can't accept consistent lack of effort. If that happens then I agree with Wingnut, expect some stick. It might not be constructive to an improved performance, but neither is standing silent whilst effectively playing with 10 men. Not trying 100% is not acceptable. It really is that simple, and who is therefore the one hurting the team more, the person giving stick in the crowd, or the player not doing their job?

Bringing a friend to a game is common sense. It is hardly an initiative. I would expect most people do/have done that before anyway. I don't see many coming to games alone and standing on their own throughout.

I think if we are to try to push for 1000 people regularly, and preferably as a result of Welling/home fans and not via a larger than usual away following, we need some proper organisation and initiatives, and someone to grab this by the balls and get it happening. This should be the club and WUSA's complete and utter focus. More people through the gates, like any other business wanting more customers, is essential to improve finances and the enjoyment of those going.

As an outsider I get the impression that the owners are relying on £15 admission rather than bodies inside the ground. I am aware of many initiatives that would and possibly can work if given a chance and may have driven you towards that 1000 barrier. Letting people in for less than the full price is not income lost - they weren't coming so whatever they spend it is money that you didn't have. And some of them will pay to come back because they will enjoy it. What they won't do is pay £15 to find out if they enjoy it.
Mr Commercial knows how to "grab this by the balls" but the board need to realise that these ideas must be tried if only for a game, otherwise the club will go nowhere fast.Ultimately it is a longer term objective. We are talking about somebody planting their feet on a piece of concrete or on a seat which isn't being occupied - it's simple really. Season Ticket holders can be rewarded for their loyalty with "bring a friend" vouchers so they don't feel they're getting a poor deal.
I know this works because it is the basis of successful crowd growth two levels lower.

I am amazed at the crowd, and atmosphere, Dulwich Hamlet have built up. I lived in East Dulwich a few years ago and unless you've been there recently you wouldn't believe the turnaround and improvement in their attendances. Anything you have done we should replicate, and Paul should be allowed to action asap.

but if we lower the price we have to lower it for everyone including our regulars so if not many extra turn up(likely) then we are down in terms of money

We have not lowered the price. In fact the admission price for adults has risen and the price of a season ticket for an adult is significantly higher than 2 years ago (£99 then and £170 early bird price now). What we have done is create events around games and invited in targetted groups so we can measure success. There are no blanket discounts they are all around a single game experience. We are also totally committed to offering the widest range of concessions that we can and holding that price low at all times (£4).
Our season ticket holders are happy as they are getting a good deal (23 games and 5 friendlies) for their money and they have had vouchers to bring friends for free to one game already. We work with sponsors to allow them to distribute free tickets. When we did the Pay What You Want day we were able to donate over £6000 to charity even after covering all expenses including player's wages.
