With all the activity happening for the Aldershot game, Lets all get involved with the bring a mate initiative on Saturday, so if you have a a mate(s)/family member(s) that has never been to PVR or not for ages, then bring them along this Saturday.
Now is the time for everyone to come out and get behind our club, JT and Jake need all the support they can get, and cheer the lads on to 3 points
Nothing to encourage someone down as a one off in the hope we get them hooked?
Just "please bring someone with you if you can" to the already committed regular fans?
Because that's all it is given the only people aware of this are those in WUSA or buying a programme at the last three home games? or on the forum, again, regular fans in the main, with 48 hours notice, less than a week before Christmas. You would hope those groups of people would already have the basic common sense and loyalty to the club to bring a mate anyway, "initiative" or no initiative.
Sorry, if this is the best we can muster we might as well give up.
I've already spoken to Paul White about this and a few other issues this week, and will be speaking to Barry tomorrow if he has time on a matchday as he scarpered early after the Junior Wings Xmas Do after a long day ... the one real initiative this season I might add.
The club, and WUSA, for all the good work they claim to do, do nothing that genuinely puts deals out there to get people through the gate. Its the same old faces doing the same old low-end projects that make no money and get no takers. Things must change in this regard. Otherwise, other than finding out who the new manager might be slightly earlier, I see no real reason for anyone to bother.
Brutal, but true.

To grow we must attract new fans that will spend money to help fund improvements to facilities and the playing staff - money that sadly now largely goes to third parties over the bar and catering facilities. Therefore the main/only genuine source of significant improved income is via the gate receipts.
Without some sort of advertising of a nothing deal, or a genuine deal, I see no evidence this has happened in the recent past, or will happen tomorrow. Either WUSA or the club must take responsibility to put this right. Preferably both. Rather than waiting for each other ... to do nothing.
If you can't see that my post comes from a desire to watch, and help, Welling grow as a club then my rhetorical point as gone over your head.
Otherwise, other than finding out who the new manager might be slightly earlier, I see no real reason for anyone to bother.

"No reason to bother" - presumably other than wanting Welling to grow as a club, which as a supporter would be reason enough for me.
If we are still talking about who the new manager "might be" it does not bode well for a deal to be struck before a very busy Xmas and New Year schedule.
Andrew is right, but I can understand Kevin's frustration. The Xmas parties, however, seem to be a very good and well-supported move.

The club, and by club given their reluctance, I mean WUSA and the fans, must do more to get people through the gate.
That means offering a deal to incentivise people. Try running a sales department with no commission for good performance and see how hard people try.
Obviously WUSA and the fans can't offer a deal without the consent of the club. We must a) put pressure on the club, b) think a little bit more about this and not just make, what I regard, as a token gesture of bring a mate that has been poorly/not advertised properly, and c) remember we have someone on the board with a voice.
We must get our message over more forcefully because we're pussy-footing around and its embarrassing.
Otherwise, other than finding out who the new manager might be slightly earlier, I see no real reason for anyone to bother.
Brutal, but true.

Want Welling to grow, or make Welling grow, that is the question. Because wanting, and therefore sitting and waiting hoping for the best, has proven to be a waste of time for too many years. We're messing with the big boys now in the Conf Premier and if we don't up our game the inevitable will happen one day, even if not this season.
As a supporter I can't sit and watch that happen, and those in WUSA, supposedly the longer serving, more committed supporters, need to take the lead, because the club won't.
Without being a total arse about it I don't think Jamie can have made it more obvious as to why he left. Others will follow over time. We must progress.
The club won't do it. Do we take it by the horns, or ignore it and cross our fingers and hope for the best.
There is lots of initiatives going on with the club and community scheme, all of which will be announced in the new year. I hope you have a friend to bring along Kevin.
Given my main hobby is football and Welling United my friends are therefore mainly already Welling attendees, therefore highlighting the major flaw in this "initiative".
Have PM'd you.
it a shame the bring a friend idea is not extended to the cup replay and I am sure it is easier to say to a friend or relative come along to welling for a tenner and suggest having a xmas drink in the bar after the game, than asking a mate along on the last shopping weekend before Christmas when the other half may want them to help with the Christmas Shop etc.
Kevin is right to make the project 1000 work it needs somebody to take responsibility for it, and for me that has to involve the club board.
The next two games have to contrasting strategies to entice people through the gates, one is come a long with a friend for £15 and Tuesday's reply is £10 entrance fee, it will be interesting to see if either will make a difference to attendance figures, and whether the friend come along the the next game.
Whilst I applaud any initiative to up attendances and boost income streams to the club one simple fact remains.
The club needs either a takover or a significant outside investment. The former is more likely to happen than the latter unless someone sees something that requires that investment that I am missing
I am a relative newby here and I am a 'floating' football supporter living nearer Dirtford, but regularly watch Charlton, Millwall, Welling, Dirtford and Ebbsfleet. Yes, I did say 'football' supporter before you question my mind!! All my 'football' mates already support these clubs. What incentive do you think I can offer them to make them support Welling regularly? For me there has to be more incentive from the club, (other than cake and crap wine, a cuppa and a burger, or the slim chance of getting an after match real ale, either of which will apparently be of no benefit to the club!) and also more communication from the Board. I am sitting here thinking, "it's a nice day, shall I go to Welling today, or will Ebbsfleet v Weston be a better option?"
If there had been some encouragement and update communication from the club about what is happening at PVR, (even just to say "we have interviewed x people but haven't found the right one yet") then that may encourage me to PVR. A week is a long time in football, and I cannot believe there has been no official update from the club concerning the management position. All news from what I read, seems to come from supporters and WUSA members, as are all efforts to increase support. And at least Kent Sport tell me Charlie Penny is fit?
The club need to pull their finger out...and fast!
Well, there you go people. Floating supporter not grabbed when we had the opportunity. Won't be the only one. Bexley Lion, come down to Welling today and I'll get you a pint of real ale myself (assuming that doesn't frighten you off) ... sod Eurostar.

Personally as a proud Bexleytonian I don't need constant twitter updates, glossy posters of forthcoming matches offering great discounts or a brilliant bar and catering facilities wholly owned by the club in order for me to support the borough's number one football club- although I except all these things help to attract new supporters.
I have made it known in the summer during a WUSA meeting that I would like to be involved in the Target 1000 initiative but I have yet to hear anything.
I believe one of the important things WUFC need to concentrate on is the younger supporters. It was down to feedback from WUSA that the club decided to drop it's prices for 17-12 year olds from £9 to £5. Under 12's are of course FREE when accompanied by an adult (I have no idea how much it would cost if they were unaccompanied!). But weather the club have fully promoted this to the borough's secondary schools I don't know. However from reading Barry Hobbins (piggies) programme notes from this season he does seem to realise the importance of this area and he has been interacting with local schools. Paul White has also started up Junior Wings of course, which is a great way to engage young supporters.
In terms of encouraging new adult supporters this is very difficult with the £15 admission price. The club seems reluctant to ever drop prices for one off games- their choice, not mine. I expect this is down to short term cahflow which is understandable. Despite this we can't give up. I for one would be prepared to go around supermarkets, shops and pubs in my area (Bexleyheath) every month or so to distribute posters of forthcoming games- something Dulwich Hamlet have done with some great success.
