...to our players.  As Jody Brown says in his interview, the squad is threadbare carrying  injuries and suffering from illness.  As I pointed out some days ago in an earlier thread, the club should not have allowed this situation to develop.  Franky, if this inclement weather continues, we could do with a postponement or two.

The club can do very little about the ex-manager wanting to pursue his career elsewhere and taking his backroom team, plus personal friend JT. How also could they prevent Tyrone Marsh from deciding to go there instead of extending his loan at a higher level of football?

They could not sign players without a new manager in place - that is putting the cart before the horse.

Everyone needs to calm down a bit. If we had won yesterday everyone would have been over reacting the other way. We lost one League match. To my mind we are probably three points up on where we need to be at this stage.

A point tomorrow would be a great result against Torquay if we can get it but the world won't end if we lose. I want us to do well as much as anyone but people need a reality check.

We are in choppy waters and it might take Jody the whole of January to steady the ship. In the meantime EVERYBODY needs to get behind him, Glenn Little and the team and stop bloody carping on about how dreadful it all is.

20th is still a success this season however unpalatable that might seem to people. Let him get on with the job and stop panicking about what might happen.

Having said that yes maybe, with no Cups to worry about, a couple of postponements might not be a bad thing.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Au contraire - Harry Beautyman was not replaced,  Tyrone was injured for some eight weeks and not replaced,  Charlie Gorman was on loan and then permanently transferred to St Albans and not replaced. Jamie was talking about adding to his squad weeks before he left but, for some reason (probably money) it did not happen.

Bertie it wasn't money, Jamie didn't replace Harry because he decided to go after Ebbsfleet job, so he changed his own personal priorities. We will build our squad and this will happen when we get into January, I am surprised at reading so much negative crap on here!

Jody Brown has more money to use in January than any manager ever hired mid-season.
We've had at least 6 players leave in recent times and their wages have been freed up, as well as the compensation/fee for Beautyman and the management team leaving.
Give him a chance to assess what he already has, and bring people in.

Nothing negative about it Matt  - our new manager has expressed surprise at the small squad he inherited which is now down to bare bones because of injuries and illness and  now a suspension.  Yes, it is easy to criticise with hindsight, but with the restrictions of the transfer window imminent, surely it would have been an idea to add to the squad to cover injuries and supensions before the loan window closed?  Also, this is a message board for the views and opinions of fans - we cannot always never criticise or have an opinion on what we think could or should have been done.  I praise our team on its achievements and I praise and compliment the club and WUSA when I believe they deserve praise.  Unfortunately,  whatever the reasons for it, I think not adding to the squad could come back to bite us over the last week of December and the New Year.  I hope it does not and I hope, as I mentioned in a previous thread, Jody performs miracles with a threadbare squad. Also, as I mentioned, this is not Jody's fault.

Again read what I put, the problems happened when Jamie didn't bring in cover when it was needed and then he popped off to Ebbsfleet. However we are we are, everyone needs to get behind Jody and the team and get as much as we can out of the next couple of games. I agree with with the forum being a place where people can express opinions, but you've got to admit your going on like a broken record!

I guess it hinges on when Jamie decided he wanted to go?  Harry's move and possible replacement I can marginally accept, but what about the weeks that Tyrone was injured or the permanent move of Charlie Gorman. And why do a number of people on here think that the money raised from player sales, compensation, savings on wages etc will be available for new players in the January window? Has there been an official statement to that effect and what proportion is likely to be available? Admittedly, the club probably cannot and will not disclose the sum, and it has bills to pay, but a general indication that funds would be available would be good.

Well put Kevin, it's been an emotive time lately so I can understand people getting pesomistic.

We gave Jamie a chance, and he proved succesful, I say let's give Jody the same chance.

With our support he might do well, without it we make his job hard.

Lets support our team.

I am giving Jody a  chance, I just wish he had more of a chance with players at his disposal in the early days of his managership.

Its not an ideal position to be in but frankly we can do nothing about it for tomorrow and maybe New Year's Day. Therefore we get behind what we have.

We were excellent at sticking the points on the board following the defeat at Bristol Rovers and that has bought us a bit of time. Given the fact that the transfer window is closed, there are predatory noises coming out of the chalk pits and there are suspensions and fitness issues to handle, anything out of the four games over the holiday period I'd treat as a bonus as we have the form side of the division and two of the bigger sides to play.

It is however vital that come the 17th January our player stock is replenished and the team know how Jody wants them to play. One thing is for certain, Jody is certainly getting a crash course in the realities of Welling. Hopefully it is a situation he will not want to or allow to return to again.

just to correct something I put earlier, to be fair to Jamie whether he went to Ebbsfleet or not, we were not going to make any new signings until Jan window, as we wanted to look at more long term fixes as a club.  I think the thing that has hit us in last few weeks is really down to suspensions, couple of key injuries and not getting chambers renewed, we have two games to get by then we get the personnel numbers up. Let's really get behind the lads tomorrow!

I was getting a bit confused as the Beautyman leaving and Daisy speaking to Ebbsfleet time-line didn't seem to add up.

Hopefully, we can pick up a few points over the next three games then Jody will have plenty of time to get some players in, and work with his squad as we have a free Saturday as a result of our early Trophy exit.

Bertie you do realise that injured players still get paid don't you?

I don't know whether Tyrone got paid by us or not when he went back to Oxford, if you do I accept your argument on that particular aspect. But what about replacements for Beautyman and Gorman?  Matt says it was not an issue of money but a policy decision to spend on new players in the January transfer window.

Welling were paying Marsh when he was injured. Gorman's wages went into the loanees wages (Buchel for example).

Beautyman has not been replaced so his wages should be available to Jody Brown.
