Interesting to read about a possible new stand in the road end in the programme today. I wonder if they mean a new stand as in terracing with a roof or a new stand as in somewhere to sit. The former would be rather nice but the latter the way forward (I guess) as a football club. Very good performance today, wonder where Marsh would rather have been playing.....

Sounds good but who is paying for it?

Probably Ebbsfleet United :) . I wonder if their owners will try and take over at Welling again next season if they don't go up this season? They won't have lost much money if they do as they do not look like they've spent a lot yet at Stonehenge Road. Would probably save them loads of money if they did try and take over at PVR again and they would have a Conference Premier club with an ambitious young manager and a good squad of young hungry players.

Where did you read this? Would be great for the club if this is true/able to get the funding for it.

Boardroom Banter in the programme with more to come in the Dover programme. Half of me would be surprised if we were seeking planning permission without some idea of how we would finance it but then maybe we get permission and then seek the backing. Who knows...well some people clearly do but its early days so I guess we can't expect the club to go into detail

Either way it is good to hear the club thinking of how we can continue to improve the ground/club and further our ambitions. Fingers crossed it becomes a reality!

Can't believe TB is still getting backed by the vast majority of fans. He failed last year when they were bottom four and he's failing this year. Someone even claimed Dartford have the same budget as us. Nonsense. I hope they stick with him as if they do they'll go down and I'll have a good laugh.

the atmosphere at the club would be ruined if road end would be made seated...look at Eurostar and their seated end...make it covered

 What atmosphere?

Away fans often make a lot of noise when segregated in the new stand. Anything with a roof will improve the atmosphere. Just because something has seats doesn't mean people have to sit in them

Correct. Bromley has a seated end but plenty of people stand there. Ebbsfleet stewards have made us sit down in the past but seemed happy with people standing in their covered end at our recent game.

Can't the proposed new stand have a level of standing allocation at the bottom with seats at the top?  Also, I wonder whether it would be possible to accommodate a covered area for wheelchair users?  I am not sure, but there may be a legal requirement to include wheelchair access in new developments.

Will be ideal for AFC Paramount when your backer walks away.....

Seems the most sensible idea. Given the road access, there is the potential for commercial / retail under any new structure...fair bit of derelict land there.

Are we on talking terms with the council? They might want rent instead of us spending money on a stand. Serious money needed maybe naming rights .

Spot on. I think Ebbsfleet fans are quite naive as to how likely that scenario is.

A roof would be great, however no to seats thank you, as we cant fill them in the main stand. Also would have to pay extra ?...........

If your gonna build a stand put a roof on it, if your gonna build a stand put a roof on it.

Build it as a terrace that can have seats bolted onto it if needed in future.

Some very positive news in todays programme, I would love to have a look at the potential plan, but I am guessing we won't see anything until they get/apply for the planning permission in the summer.

Does sound very interesting, although it confirms we'd have to play elsewhere for a considerable chunk of the season. I can't think of many local groundshare options other than Charlton, and that probably won't be affordable.

Good to see ambition from the club though.

Reality check.

Getting planning is not the same as building.

Investors not easy to find given we don't even get sponsors easily.

Years away after planning and financier found.

Let's stay up first huh?

Depends on what's on offer surely? If the link with a residential or retail opportunity then it may be far easier to find someone to finance it. But the Council own the lease and so just how easy all that would be who knows (well I certainly don't). If it was a complete non-starter then I'd be surprised if we were bothering at all.

I don't think anyone expects this to be a quick or easy progress, and of course staying up is the highest priority, but it is good to see the club is looking to improve and make Welling united a more attractive prospect to sponsors, investors, fans, players etc.

On another note well done and thank you to Paul and Trevor Pierce on getting the advertising board outside the ground. As Paul stated in the programme with the traffic that goes past, in particular the buses that stop outside hopefully it'll bring a few more fans in.

Excellent to read this in the programme. All major developments take time, and most go to full design and planning stages before funds are in place. We need to be all fully behind our club and help support in any consultations. In my experience of project management, the further we go in design stages, the more investable it is.

My mantra: all good projects attract money, let's set the bar and the vision high!

It's good news. But I'd suggest it's a long way off happening and not priority one. I don't think that can be argued with givem recent form surely?

Once again, it is clearly the number one priority to stay in the league, but there has to be a strategy on and off the pitch, so this is still a very important development to the club.

Absolutely. Get the planning approved and see what happens from there. I hope the club will be more welcoming of Target 1000/raising crowds as well.

No.1 priority: put in place a strategy to increase income from our asset.
