Singular they is the use of they, or its inflected or derivative forms, such as them, their, or themselves, to refer to a single person or an antecedent that is grammatically singular.
No charge Bertie...

Not on a public forum its only hearsay until they (the club) put it up or a press website does. If he does sign hes got a superb beard though. Will scare defenders ****less.

I think we've signed a striker too, but they need international clearance.
I am not being pedantic, Tom, but "they" must be a slip on the keyboard - or you are being a tease!
The club need international clearance for him to play and the striker needs international clearance to play so that means they need it.
Good job I have left subbing - and feeling poorly - otherwise I would have spotted that rather obscure story and ordered it to be spelt out! But the message is a good one, Tom, and I hope we do not have to wait too long before this chap plays for us. Happy New Year, mates - just going to have a soothing single malt from the drinks cupboard to sort out this ghastly malady, followed by a pint of IPA from the Mad Cat Brewery, Brogdale, Faversham, which I will draw from my home cask. I recommend beer for all ailments.
If it's Alexei Lalas he'd be more use in the commercial department rather than emergency striker. Dusty Hill wouldn't be much good as the only thing he seems able to shoot at is himself!
