Initially disappointed to read this, then read the comments on the official site and was more positive. On the assumption we don't pi55 them both off and can retain Penny for next season to play up front with a big striker then it could be a good move. Penny is a good player, but up front on his own isn't using him to his strengths. I hope the new signing we have lined up is a massive lump to go up top.
Indeed more positives than negatives from this. Hopefully the fixture gap from the Gateshead postponement will give the new lads a bit more time to gel in, as well as allow the others to shake off any niggles they may have.
Initially I was surprised and disappointed at Charlie going, thought him and Vine would have played well together, judging by that decision the potential signing you would hope is better than what we have currently up top. Could work well for all.
Jody was saying at half time at the Reserve/Development match today that Kingstonians will play 7 matches over the next month whilst we will play 4, it will give both players some much needed match practise and maybe Penny can grab a few goals to boost his confidence

If Jody wants, or has to play, just one up front at the moment then Penny's not the one for that role and I can see why he's better off getting games elsewhere. He needs someone with him to knock balls down/ hold up play etc. Mal hasn't started enough games under any manager and that has always baffled me. I think he's a quality player. Hopefully getting games under his belt will finally give him the chance he deserves.
I suppose we'll only know if this all works out once they're back and how our results go whilst they're gone. Does seem a gamble/brave decision though.
I think your right Mark, if any of you want the answers to your questions, don't forget meet the manager on Friday evening, in the exec lounge at 7.30 pm
I agree with Mark. It's predominately about freeing up the finances to bring in a new CF. We have to live within our means, and we need more goal scorers in after losing Harry and Tyrone. Charlie isn't ready to score the goals we're going to need this season.
I can't see Penny and Mal on that much money each week that would give Jody a decent option for another player. looking forward to seeing a new arrival (for a month) and Friday night though.
Not sure about Hudson to be honest. Has played well as an impact sub in some games but largely anonymous when he has started.
Penny does offer something but, as others have said on this thread, he is not a lone striker so if we don't play two up top regularly then we need a different option.
We should remember that we lost around three quarters of our league goals with the loss of Beautyman and Marsh in the last two months and that would be difficult for any club to replace let alone little old Welling.
It remains to be seen what the manager has lined up but we need to let him manage things his way and hopefully results and points will follow.
