Football is a game of opinions so what are yours regarding the current squad at PVR. For me......
In tray - Barney Williams, Jamal Fyfield, Sam Corne, Jake Gallagher (if he can stay on the pitch long enough...), Zach Fagan (underused in my humble opinion), Reece Harris, Joe Healy, Dom Vose (if the penny drops and he finally realises he has 10 teammates on the field with him) Michael Mcentegart (as cover)
Out tray - KSA, Chris Bush, Charlie Penny, Sam Akinde, Rod Young
Not sure - Ben Jefford, Malachi Hudson, Tashan Adeyinka
Of the various loanees I wouldn't mind a season long loan for Michael Chambers and, if not him, then possibly Harry Osbourne. Rossco would be a real coup but I don't think that is viable financially to be honest. I have seen Tobi Sho Silva at PVR a few times this season and I quite liked him although his goals to games ration wasn't good.
So, if we can keep most of the above the defence and midfield doesn't look half bad. Priorities for me would be a (regular) keeper and we need to unearth a couple of strikers either from lower league clubs or released by league clubs. I realise we don't have the budget on par with other Conference National teams (and indeed local teams in the league below) but hopefully Faz & Co can find a few gems and league clubs will be happy for their youngsters to play at a decent level at PVR where they know they will be properly looked after.
An interesting list Gavin and one I tend to agree with except I would add both Ben Jefford and Tashan to the "IN TRAY" list. And Michael Mc as potentially 1st choice keeper or at least with a good chance of the No 1 shirt. Also retain Charlie Penny even if he is loaned out initially to bulk himself up.
Likewise I hope we are not over reliant on loan players (again) although we must accept that the wage budget dictates this is likely to be the solution to bolstering numbers.
Faz did say he would be a player manager on Saturday night.
I would put KSA in a maybe tray as under Faz and co he has improved. However I am satisfied Faz and his management team will get the best available players they can.

give him pre-season and go from there. He has definitely improved
I never thought I would say this, but I think we should keep KSA. The improvement has been incredible. I really think Faz has found his perfect position, really feel his ability to hold the ball up and link up with Rossco made a huge difference to our survival.
From what I have seen Michael Mcentegart could be a good shout for no.1 unless we unearth someone better. In front of him Barney, Jamal, Jefford and if we could manage it chambers. That would be a very good back 4 with Faz to fit in when he needs to as well, plus is we kept Fagan he could also slot in when needed.
Personally unsure about Bush, he has some really good games, but then I can recall a fair few clangers/red cards which didn't help the cause, but could be worth a punt if we couldn't get chambers.

Hopefully after last night we still have a good relationship with Bournemouth, rather than see their Premier League reserve players heading on loan to Braintree.
I'd also love to see what a fully fit Anthony Jeffrey can do.
KSA may have improved his hold up play but he still missed two sitters in two of the last three home games. Sorry I think there are better options out there.
Given that we now play three CBs I would keep Bush around for utility purposes. With him, Jefford and Fagan on the books it means we can concentrate on signing another defender full time and bring in someone on loan in the style of Blaine Hudson or Chambers too.

I take it by "full time" you just mean permanent signing as opposed to loan?

He might have improved but there must be someone better than KSA , Bush is a accident waiting to happen to many penalties and red cards, we still haven't replaced Beautymans goals from midfield , and seeing Rosco playing for us again shows how much we missed him.
While I agree that we all have opinions on football - and this is a fans' message board - I think players who worked their nuts off for Faz and kept us up deserve a little more respect. KSA was a revelation and worked very well with Ross and Dom. Chris Bush's discipline (and Jake's for that matter) caused us problems and probably cost us points, but it was Chris Bush who helped us earn a point at Alfreton and a vital one as it turned out. He was also part of the heroic defensive display against Wrexham. Yes, there will probably be players who move on - but they go with my grateful thanks for their effort under the Faz management team.

The penalty at Aldershot was a shocker, with points being crucial next season we can't throw any away.
i think the only persons opinion that matters is loui's! he's got the most out of these players and he'll know who can take us into mid table next season. personally i think there will be a lot of changes to the squad.

Why would they send their players to Braintree? Do you know something we dont know?

It's Jamie Day's most likely next job.

Quite so Bertie!
Some players will move on through their own choice, there may be others that Loui doesn't want, but every one of them deserves our thanks for keeping us in the league.

Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with discussing who should be kept on next season though.
Fans are allowed to have an opinion and debate this sort of thing, if a player chooses to read a forum they have to expect there will be the odd negative comment

Exactly! A forum is about debate and we all have different opinions (and seem to watch different games?!)
Faz is the one whose opinion counts (and I will support players the players he picks in a red shirt up to a point...) but nothing wrong with a healthy debate about who stays and who goes.
As for KSA being a revelation do me a favour. Granted he has been better in the last few weeks (but he could hardly have got any worse...) It is know in the trade as "trying to get a contract sorted for the following season syndrome" (see Mark Watson) I think he has scored three goals all season (two of them penalties) and missed countless chances and, in many games, not even put in a decent amount of effort - he is not up to this level of football in any way, shape of form.

Firstly, let this debate not detract in any way from the effort and improvement made both on the field and in the dugout in the last few months. Well done all. However, the close season is the perfect time for change.
Getting the best from players is the managements job. Welling simply cannot afford the best players and therefore a team of young hungry individuals moulded into a team is the way forward, take note Jody Brown, and then make them play as a unit rather than XI individuals and beat the money grabbing mercenaries of other clubs.
Individuals; for me Penny was hung out to dry by Brown. He hardly played under Day due to injury, and then Brown have him a few games but upfront on his own in a side lacking desire and spirit. With the right strike partner Penny will finish chances. If you intend playing one up front a lot then perhaps Penny isn't the man, but he should be a serious option with the right players around him. KSA has improved significantly, but as mentioned by others, it was difficult to not improve given some of the poor performances and effort in certain games. He also had a strong spell by his standards in December, as soon as a new manager came along, co-incidence? Having had many, many chances at other clubs in the leagues below us, and many, many appearances for us this season, he just doesn't score enough goals. For all the other positives some might think he brings, ultimately we need someone to bang it in the net, he just doesn't do that.
Since when did I not say that this was a forum for opinions, I thought I had underlined that fact? I was not having a pop at people on here, the point I was making was that ALL players who stepped up to the plate under Faz's management team were worthy of our respect and thanks for keeping us up - is anybody arguing with that? We all have our own opinions as to how individual players perform. Sometimes, frustration gets the better of me and I let them know as a spectator. However, I rarely criticise individual players on here - but that is just my view and opinion. Others, obviously, express themselves in forthright terms on here, and that is their way of voicing opinions. To Wingnut, I say that KSA has been a revelation in the last few matches - a view shared by the NLP reporter at the Southport match who thought KSA, Ross and Dom were almost "unplayable".
Also, I do not agree with Kevin often but he makes a valid case for retaining Charlie Penny. I think Charlie would do well alongside a fast, big striker - Tash anybody?
KSA does not deserve a new contract as over the whole season he hasn't shown that he has the ability to score goals at this level which we will need next season. I think it is a bit early to discuss who is staying and who is going as the Conference and League released / retained lists have not come out for most teams. Think that Chris Bush is okay in the 3 central defenders system Faz uses as has the physic required to deal with the physical forwards in this league, Michael Chambers was a big improvement on Darren Purse and also were Osbourne and Berry. Not sure on Charlie Penny either whether he is strong enough, still think Malachi would be useful as an impact substitute. Trust that Faz will make the right decisions and avoid the early season issues of the past season. Up the wings and am sure that a good squad will be assembled.

Who is opposing debate? Clearly some players will be deemed surplus to requirements. It would be foolhardy to retain an entire squad who only escaped relegation on goal difference regardless of the two lost months.
All I am saying is that whoever departs will go with my gratitude for their part in keeping us in this league.

Good point about Malachi - another player to slip under the radar when shipped out on loan to Kingstonian. He and Charlie scored goals at that level too. I reckon Anthony Jeffrey is worth a shout too - saw very little of him before his injury to form an opinion, but I reckon he should be given a chance. Hopefully we will have two fast players in him and Reece.
