First 10 games - 2 wins, 3 draws, 5 defeat - 9 points.
Next 10 games - 2 wins, 4 draws, 4 defeat - 10 points.
Next 6 games - 4 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat - 13 points.
Jody Brown in Charge - 9 games - 0 wins, 1 draw, 8 defeats - 1 point.
Faz in Charge 11 games - 3 wins, 3 draws, 5 defeats - 12 points.
First 23 games = 25 points
Last 23 games = 20 points.
I think it is interesting that this season there were no terrible teams in the league, all the small budget teams have struggled especially early season and the playoff teams show what you can achieve with a bigger budget.
Honestly feel that Jody Brown was a little unlucky with a threadbare squad for the first 4 games and then maybe panicked into too much tinkering bringing in some players who looked past it for this level and not using some of our own younger players SC, MH and CP. It is very hard to rebuild a side in the middle of the season when you have lost 3 of your best players including your 2 top goal scorers and have a limited budget, hard even when you have Ebbsfleet's budget it seems!!
Should be remembered he also brought in the quality of Dom Vose who made a difference and scored some vital goals and supplied some good assists.
Also Reece Harris who looked okay.
Loui Fazakerley did a good job of reorganising the formation, more intensity and really good quality loan signings of Roscoe, Chambers and Osbourne that have just got us over the line and now has a chance to assemble his own squad for next season.
Am not a friend or relative of Jody Brown but am fair and this is just my opinion.
Agree about Vose (if he learns just to pass at times) and Reece, both good additions.
What the stats don't highlight is the turnaround by Loui and disarray amongst the team when he took over. To get the points he did after a run like that is some achievement.
We finished with just under a point a game - had Mr Brown managed that during his tenure we would have finished with 53 points and only flirted with relegation.
Last season 45 points was not enough to stay up - this season it was.
It has been agreed that the squad was threadbare when Brown took over but his wholesale changes and general arrogance left behind a worse situation than he inherited.
To be honest it's still sinking in that we've stayed up.
To be honest when everyone was calling for Jody Brown to be sacked, I genuinely thought we were finished and couldn't see anyone being able to turn it around. Therefore I thought paying off Jody for leaving us in the brown stuff (pardon the pun) just a waste of money.
So glad Louie, Matt and Paul proved me very wrong by performing an absolute miracle.
After the Barnet game I couldn't see us picking up another point. The job Loui has done is nothing short of a miracle, if we can cut out red cards and silly penalties we should be fine.
What's the best course of action when presented with a threadbare squad? I know, strip it down even further by sending its best young players out on loan.
Sprinkle in a few up-and-coming talents like Darren Purse and Rowan Vine, cherry pick Grays' superstars like Joseph Zerafa, and you're on to an absolute winner.
Truly an educated football man. Absolutely no surprise that Grays' form, as well as ours, improved markedly in his absence.
For me it was the uninspiring downbeat attitude he showed in his Wings TV interviews that got me. If he was the same around the training ground it wouldnt make me want to play for him. Mostly I thought the team had some half decent performances under him but there was a spark missing. Faz brought that spark back and the results improved because of the extra spirit and effort from the players.
The thing you have to ask was due dilligence done in the appointment?
Clearly out of his depth in terms of the leap of divisions from Grays to a level that he had no experience of yet at the meet the managers meeting you hear of him talking that it was a chat over a cup of tea and a biscuit
It smacks of affordability being the key driver that we have gotten out of by the appointment of Faz who by some miracle has kept us afloat.
The guy just didn't fit into the Welling set up, he may well succeed elsewhere as we even see "big named" managers fail, get sacked but go on to to well elsewhere. Time to move on perhaps? Give Faz the support he deserves and be constructive with comments to help build the squad for what will probably be another difficult season. We need to aim for that 50point mark again and perhaps have a run in a cup competition to bring in a bit of extra finance. When is the first friendly?

I believe he was highly recommended by the outgoing management team.

When would they have had any dealings with him .
Who knows? The member of the outgoing management team I spoke to was full of praise for him when he was first appointed.

I assume we're talking about Day and Co being full of praise for Brown, rather than Brown full of praise for Faz? just to clarify.
Day didn't work for Ebbsfleet, Ebbsfleet didn't work for Day.
In both cases we can only go by what we have seen as Welling supporters. Doesn't mean both are fantastic or dire. I am sure we could defend Day to any Ebbsfleet fan and Tiptree and Redbridge would do the same for Brown. Frankly though, what is the point? Neither audience is interested in moderating their view.
