The Conference state that they will not allow them in their 'National' League until the Football League accept them as they believe it will hurt their wish for an extra promotion place. They want to be the equivalent of League Division Three (Division Five in old money).

It's a fair point, I don't want them anyway, football is played on grass. Can see league teams pushing for it in the future though.

I can understand 3G/4G pitches from a business perspective as the pitch can be let out throughout the week with little maintenance required. Although I'm sure it would take a while to recoup the six/seven figure sum of installing the pitch in the first place.

However it gives an unfair home advantage as Maidstone have found, and is still responsible for too many injuries.

They don't last forever either so I've heard. Half a million quid to replace every 10 or 15 years isn't cheap. Always grass for me. Didn like the Maidstone pitch at all. Definitely an advantage to them.
