I just wanted to say a big well done for all those responsible for the programme which once again looks excellent.

It was also good to see that our Operations Manager, Barry Hobbins, now has a full page column at the front of the magazine-as it should be in my opinion. However there is still no update on an appointment of a new groundsman- as promised towards the end of last season. This seems crucial to ensure that Barry has more time to devout to some of the things mentioned in his column including addressing our worryingly low attendances and potential ground developments.

Ditto. Barrie is spread too thin, he can't do everything personally. Attendances, and improving them, has been a topic of discussion and something needing addressing for far too long. 505 for the opening home game, less than 450 home fans, on a hot sunny day, is not good enough I'm afraid.

Until the crowds go up to 600?

I live in Bexleyheath and I've just had an advert come through my door for a local football club- Dartford FC.

sounds in line with the Bexley Times policy as well. Where is Welling in the community given we're a community club?

On the same day, Boreham Wood attracted 701 for their game against FC Halifax while Bromley pulled in 2,083 vs. Wrexham! I think a high percentage of the latter were Palace fans?

The problem is you need volunteers to do leafleting. Paul has ordered a number of flyers in the past but only a handful of people come forward to put them out.

Putting adverts in the local newspaper has proved too expensive previously.

The other problem on Saturday was that Charlton were playing at home and they sell seated tickets at just £1 more than us.

The £16 a seat for non-league football compared to £17 for Championship is always going to be a deterrent as I've always found with friends and family. Sadly the club has trapped itself in a vicious circle where the budget is now so tight they can't afford to lower ticket prices. The attendances then drop even further along with the budget and so on.

All we can do is keep trying to promote the club ourselves, whether that's by word of mouth and/or leafleting and just hope for the best.

The only other option is supporters using social media to promote the club, but a few seasons ago I regularly tried encouraging supporters to use social networking (Facebook, Twitter etc.) till I was blue in the face. Only a handful did this and I mostly just got criticism for my efforts.

I'm also starting to wonder whether BTB would be better off as a kind of Boost The Attendance Fund instead where a proportion of WUSA funds are spent on promotional material (flyers, adverts etc) in order to hopefully boost the attendance which in turn will boost the budget.
