Good luck lads, looking strong at the back in both games so far, if we can take a chance or two at the other end than I'm confident we can get the points. COYWs.

Playing out of the back is all fine and dandy, but Welling got caught in possession doing it in pre-season and had a couple of scares today before finally getting caught out. Sometimes, a hoof is not a bad option. Collect the loose ball, then play football.

First goal conceded is a total howler from King. Complete shambles.

Final score 2-1. Kabba scored in injury time.

Hopefully yet again the lads can take the positives out of this game. Moss Rose is one of the toughest places to go to in this league. Not many teams will win there.

Macclesfield are a former league side with a league budget, and mostly former established league players.

The team seemed to do their best and had it not been for an error from the keeper (which is going to happen from time to time) we'd be coming away from there with a very impressive point.

The players have just got to keep doing what they're doing on the training ground, and eventually we'll get the rub of the green and the performances will start translating into the points they deserve.

What positives?

Macclesfield are a non-league team that flirted with the Football League and hadn't scored before today.

I'm not convinced that Macclesfield do have a league budget. My guess is its probably about in the middle of this division.

I fancied us to get something but gifting them a goal is always going to make it a tall order.

The positives to draw is that we did n't implode, take a thrashing and have players sent off as we did so often last season.

On wards and upwards to Tuesday.

So our goal came from a huge King punt, and their goal came from King looking to roll the ball and er ballsing it up.

I think there's a lesson there.

Punt it long Tom!

Eh - were you watching the same game as me?? Macc were the better of two poor teams and will be bottom half this season for sure on the evidence of Saturday.

Not all of the team did their best. Statistically we would have got a point without the goalkeeping **** up but anyone there on Saturday, on and off the field, knows the problems run deeper than that.

Tactically we were poor. One central midfielder off, another one on. One striker off, another one on (although both subs did at least put themselves about) No change of formation and not once did we give Macclesfield anything different to look at. How about a bit of 3-5-2, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1. At no time did we try anything like that. And the famous 3-4-1-2 that was trumpeted before the season began has disappeared off the face of the earth?!

The omission of Fagan continues to baffle me. Of course I don't see the lads train but I am missing something if he can't get a place in this team (either as one of three centre halves or as a holding midfielder). By all accounts he did well at FGR on Tuesday yet he goes straight back on the bench for the next game??

Vidal is not, and never will be, a "quarterback" style deep lying midfielder. He built his reputation at Dulwich by playing off the front and scoring a few goals. Give him more freedom to play further forward and get some shots away. One out and out striker is not a defensive formation if the service and support to them is any good.

I will be there tomorrow to support the lads but they need to give us/me something to support. We can't compete with Eastleigh on a financial footing but we can put a group of blokes out there to compete against them tomorrow night and at least give them a game and a few things to think about.

Rant over - up the Wings!
