Wrexham have had a good start. Or have they? They lost to Bromley who are 20th. They've beaten Aldershot and Kiddy who are 21st and 22nd. The highest placed team they've played is Torquay who are 12th. We've played FGR 1st Eastliegh 6th Guiseley 10th and Maccesfield 15th. Having said that they're full time,ex football league.expecting a big crowd and have a budget we can only dream of. Let's hope The Faz fledglings can put up a good fight and Nick a point or 3. COYW.

The point of that is that we had a free kick in a good position so we threw 2 players on. Plus there was at least 5 mins of time added on.
An unbelievable defending display. No words will do it justice. All credit to the boys who put in an amazing shift. One error at the end led to the goal but it was a very one sided game. Credit to all the boys. Keep defending like that and we will get results from more games than we lose.

Apologies. Text commentary implied the free kick was given after the substitutions were made.
It had to be that good a defensive display as we had notably few outlets going forward and were bloody atrocious at finding them with the ball! No coincidence if you keep on giving the ball away you eventually run out of steam, make one mistake too many, or both. Get a solid base to work from, but work there still is on the continuity of transition good defending into plausible attacking.
On the radio, Wrexham's local commentary team were complimentary of Welling's defensive work. They said you had to feel for Welling a bit.
Wrexham look a decent bet for promotion this season under Mills. Four wins in a row now and 5k turned out to watch them today.
It sounded like another very good backs to the wall performance from Welling. Only a couple of minutes away from an outstanding result. Seems to have been positives to be taken from every performance so far. Well played Loui and boys.
I feared a drubbing for the first 30 minutes with Jefford being skinned a couple of times and looking like little boy lost, but he improved as the game went on. Kevin Lokko was an absolute rock - one of the best individual defensive performances I've seen for a while.
We really didn't offer much going forward. I think it took about 70 minutes before we won our first and only corner. George Porter was running himself into the ground chasing hopeful through balls. I think the lineup showed Wrexham too much respect (decent side they may be...) and we were always going to struggle to make an impact going forward with Porter operating as a lone central striker. He's never been a prolific goalscorer and I think he'd be most suited to playing wider in a front 3. Reece Harris was very direct, cutting inside at pace and drawing a number of fouls in the second half - more of the same please Reece.
I'm still not sure what to make of Wellard. He's a technically accomplished player but to me he looks like Joe Healy-lite. A good left foot, strong on the ball, but sod all in the way of pace. Granted, he had a lot of defensive work to do, but we lacked any sort of attacking threat on whichever flank he was operating (he switched a couple of times in the second half).
Not there in person on Saturday but gutted to lose a point so late in the day.
We have played three of the top four in our first five games and not been disgraced. The real downer for me was the Macclesfield game where we were poor from start to finish and they weren't much better. There will be ups and downs with such a young and inexperienced team and we have to be prepared for that.
The trick now is to apply the same effort and commitment and level of performance against the smaller teams in the league and hopefully the points and victories will come.
