Why on earth did we give up half the "home" end last night as well as the whole of one side?! Bromley were always going to bring a few but the whole side was more than enough to cater for that.
I have stood in the same place attacking the road end for the best part of twenty years but had to stay at the park end second half due to the ridiculous segregation.
I hope this was just a one off and not a sign of things to come for other segregated games....
Not condoning it at all? Are you serious? I am all for new fans coming through the gate, and if they want to sing and banter with other fans that's fine. As soon as they start throwing things it will ruin the clubs reputation and then more segregation will happen and more police presence with a cost to the club!
The way this segregation was arranged seemed crazy to me. There are gates at three corners of the ground enabling opposing fans to be kept well apart if there is considered a possibility of disturbances. Why then was it thought a good idea to allow the two rival groups to be in the same section of the ground within easy throwing distance of each other? Segregation inconveniences many fans unable to stand or sit in their normal places but if police advise it the club presumably has no option but to enforce it. However surely it should be done in such a way as to preclude opposing fans being in close proximity to each other. Why were Bromley not given the new stand side and the park end if large numbers were expected? With last night's arrangement there was more chance of trouble between the fans than if no segregation had been in place as the rival fans would have both changed ends at half time as has happened when the clubs have met in the past. Providing the two sets of fans had been supervised to change ends using opposite sides of the ground I think it is most unlikely that any disturbances would have occurred.
I hope that Bromley have something much more sensible in mind for the return match when it is played in March.

As I understand it segregation at Bromley involves splitting the end where the turnstiles are and giving half that end to away fans and the half furthest from the turnstiles to the Bromley fans (that's what has been in place so far this season)
So you would have the same half and half scenario as we had last night (or at least when Bromley attack that end)

Was simply replying to the fact that the word instigated was used to say that our crowd started it, but in fact it was there idiots as well as ours.
It was kids who do not go to welling who started trouble last night, and the throwing was started by the kids on our side, although Bromley did retaliate and I was up £1 for their efforts!

The word instigated was used in a question not a statement in my original post on the subject.
A number of youths, who looked remarkedly like those who were kicking off in the game against Chester, arrived at the ground at the same time as me. The steward on the gate seemed to recognize them and gave them orders/directions on where they could go/stand. Although they were not alone, they appeared to be in the thick of disturbances again. If their faces are now known can they not be turned away at the gate in the future or does something more formal have to be in place before this can happen.

So where were the Stewards while all of this was kicking off ?...........its seems to me all they do is stand around with their hands in their pockets

or eating .........
Perhaps the steward for the lounge entrance in the main stand should be moved onto the terrace - the steward who'll be most likely to scare them into behaving.
perfect place for away fans would be park end with them exiting danson park?
Yes and for evening games who will pay for the park to be opened? Who will pay for the electricity for lighting so away fans can see where they are going? Who will pay for staffing the park so away fans don't get lost or injured? Certainly would not be London Borough of Bexley as they like all local authorities are strapped for cash.
On a much more serious point well done to the club, stewards and police last night. It was interesting to see the young trouble makers put in the park end where stewards and police could deal with them and eject them before any problems arose.
I spoke to Barry Hobbins last night re the segregation at the Bromley game. He said they tried something different but the overwhelming feedback from supporters was that the road end should stay for home fans and when full segregation was required, it would revert to being the whole of that side of the ground as it was last season.
Fair play to Barry for explaining his reasons and for listening to the supporters feedback as well.
Credit for trying something new and accepting it did not work as well as expected. Also sad state of affairs when last night was segregated because of a gang of school kids turning up and good to see common sense prevail and return to non segregation when they were evicted.
I assumed the schoolkids were told to leave cos it was past their bedtime.
Hopefully they'll soon get bored with being thrown out every game & find someone/something else to pester.
They're easily spotted (just listen out for an irritinating squeak) so the stewards can carry on doing what they did last night - group them together then chuck them out. I know we need more supporters, but as most of them only paid £5 we won't lose much by shedding them.
Does anyone know why last nights match was segregated for the first half and not the second? At half time the gate was opened and some Lincoln fans moved in to the road end

Dave I was told by a steward that it was segregated as a precaution in case the youth gang provoked the Lincoln fans, and once they left then the gates were opened again

Unfortunately the park is now always open seeing as Bexley Council did not renew the fee of the security company who locked the gates...

Good grief Trundle I had not realised things were that bad in Bexley. I hope that nothing untoward happens in the park during the night.
