yes, well done to team and all who attended. Only downside appears to be a yellow card for Corne, does that mean he misses Tuesday or next Saturday?
And Barney Williams shirt number to look out for in Monday's draw, Wings are ball 23. I have an affiliation to number 27 so we will be at home to Didcot or Exeter!
Safe journey home to all and hope you only get wet in celebration!
Sluggish game. Some individual stand out performances. All that matter is that we got a result, which we did. Great victory and we are in round two. Referee tried to make the game as hard as possible and ended up playing 8 minutes added time. Seemed to wanna play until Barwell scored. We are in the hat for Monday. Safe journeys back to all that travelled alongside me. COYW!
The conditions were not the best due to the earlier heavy rain and did not allow us to play so well, but the boys did their job and finished with the result that we had hoped for. We are now in the draw for the 2nd round tomorrow evening which is a massive help towards lifting our players confidence against whoever we play next. Credit must also go to everyone who travelled to the game. It was really great watching our players receiving the ovation from our supporters at the end of the game. You were a massive boost to our team, and I personally give you all a "Big thank you " for your support.
Excellent compliments by Mr President and wholeheartedly endorsed - now I know most see me as being a doommonger, but I always seem to stumble across the negatives of any success! This time, I try to be lighthearted, but apart from Sam Corne's yellow card and resulting suspension mentioned earlier, another downside to our cup success is that we have to cancel our long weekends planned for the Devon Riviera on 5th December! Guess vs Torquay away will now be a mid-week trip?

Not a bad thing. Gives Torquay FC a bit more time to max out their credit cards. By the time we play them in the re-arranged fixture, we'll hopefully be playing a youth side... Whoops! I forgot Torquay disbanded their youth setup.
An even better result considering Dover went out at home to a team in the sane league as Barwell, loads of upsets over the weekend. Glad we weren't one!
Well done to all on Saturday's result. I said on the morning of the game that it was about commitment and desire and we couldn't be faulted for that. The discipline was very good as well especially after some very "industrial" challenges early on and their captain and chief thug provoking people throughout the ninety minutes.
Having criticised him in the past it is only fair to mention the contribution of our captain. Made one and scored one and put through some other excellent passes which should have been capitalised upon. Also saw some signs of good captaincy with some of the instructions he was dishing out to younger, more inexperienced team mates......well done Ricky!
Some tough league ahead now before the next round so we need to get our heads down and battle for some more points starting tonight!

George Porter and Joey Taylor were both cleaned out by needless and cowardly off the ball challenges. Both kept their discipline admirably and neither went missing afterwards. This is not a Welling team that can be easily bullied.

Had the ref (or his blind assistants) seen the off the ball tackle on Taylor their captain would have walked. Min you I think they blamed the sunshine for not giving the most obvious of penalties?! The referee could and should have dished out a couple of early yellows which would have put a stop to it. My boys watched their warm up and said the manager/coach was really winding them up to get stuck into us early on.
Fortunately we kept our discipline which maybe we wouldn't have if Messrs Day and Gallagher had still been involved....
After Lavery's barge into Porter 6 minutes into the game the Barwell fans sitting around me were fully expecting a red card. They were amazed that there wasn't even a yellow.
