It's a far cry from Jamie Day going nuts at Maidenhead. Or binning off contracted players like Sam Mott, Rod Young & Charlie Gorman after about 2 games when they clearly weren't up to it.
From what I recall, Sam Mott left because his full-time job (Locksmiths on Borough High Street I think) meant he couldn't fulfill the new training schedule when we were promoted. Not because he "wasn't up to it" as in he couldn't perform at this level.

And if I'd been told I wasnt good enough, that's the line I'd use as well. He wasn't up to it, and Lee Butcher was.
I'm not unhappy with the squad. I just wish we would pick the better players when they are available and resort to some others when we are out of options!
Jamie Day tried to keep Sam Mott but Sam wanted to leave because of the above mentioned work commitments. Remember players at this level are not millionaires, would you have full time contract and earn a few hundred a week or a full time salary plus a part time football contract on the side?
Sam is the pick of all clubs that don't play full time, every year he can take his pick of clubs.
Lee Butcher was brought in when Sam Mott got injured in a pre season match, Mott was not going to be fit til around mid September, we couldn't afford to keep him and Butcher,

Spot on, I thought it was harsh on Sam at the time but butcher came in and done a brilliant job.

I agree. With our budget etc. our squad is ok, we just need a striker. Until then we need to play to our strengths and that's what's been lacking. Our squad should have half a chance of staying up considering some of the financial problems of other teams. With the right team selections that chance gets better and if we get a striker then it's even more improved. It's not as if we're adrift. Hope Faz gets things going, legend player for me and I want him to do well as gaffer.
I want him to do well too. But he's had his chance and messed it up. Too much head in the sand after poor performances and results.
I think the club will maybe see it as got to the 2nd round of FA cup, through the trophy first round and above relegation zone. This has bought some decent money into the club. i think Fas has still got some time and won't really be seen as 'messed up'
Time to be positive? OK so we lost 5-0 a week ago, but we were 4-0 up yesterday when the subs, weather, lenient ref, all conspired to drop the performance level, but we won and are in the draw for the next round. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the management team nothing will now change until at least the New Year. So with some difficult fixtures over the next couple of weeks it's time to take all the positives, get behind the team & the management, and enjoy the festive season.
