Now on the official website.

http://www.wellingunited.com/wp/loui-fazakerley-sacked-by-the-wings/

I along with many others have been very critical of the management team and some of there decisions. However I think that needs to be forgotten as we think of Loui as a fine servant to the football club and a very good footballer. Good luck to Loui, Matt and Paul in the future, i'm sure that with a bit more experience they will do very well in management.

Agree in that thank you for your past contribution which may but shouldn't be obscured by the last three months. It is never nice to find that you need to improve what you have chosen to do significantly, even less so in the public eye. It may be someone else can't make it work either but at least with a comparison you will be judged fairly.

I too, like many, have been critical, and I feel rightly so. They created this mess.
However, as a player, Loui did a lot for this club and that should be remembered.
It is a shame that they have tarnished that a little with their recent conduct of refusing to resign and laughing at the question when asked by Greg on Saturday. Forced the club's hand I suspect.

Am I right in thinking he is no longer a player at the club now

Loui's contribution on the pitch should never be forgotten and was an integral part of a successful team in the Jamie Day years.

Not sure if one or any of them are cut out for management if I am being honest.

My only hope is that they've kept the physio on, only good thing to come out of the squad this season, injuries kept at a minimum compared to last season when 5+ players were out injured. Hope a new manager can come in and push us up the table with a fully fit squad.

Inevitable, I suppose, and something which should have been addressed much earlier. Nonetheless, I cannot help but feel sad and sorry  - for Louis especially who has been a loyal servant to the Wings over so many years and stood by us, and played his heart out, even through the period of financial turmoil.

I liked the managerment team as individuals and would have liked it to have worked for them, but it is a result based business and managers are paid to win games as I have said in previous threads.

Loui is no doubt a club playing legend and will always be remembered fondly by the fans his service's to the club cause.

I think that the managerment team do have something to offer the game,( maybe at a slighty lower level)  should they take stock and learn from the experience.

I wish them well in the future.

Now we wait for the announcement of the new manager and his team and get behind them.

A very sad day. I have not been around this season so I can't comment on form etc but some people should look at themselves over the very personal abuse aimed at someone who has given 100% for the club from the day he arrived.
We all have jobs - would you expect personal abuse if someone wasn't happy with your level of performance? I suspect not.
Hopefully things will be turned around for the club and also for Loui who I know is a great person and someone I am privileged to have worked with on programme notes etc and to call a friend.

I think the difference is Paul is that there have been very obvious failings from the start that the supporters were very quick to see since pre-season. This should have been rectified but for whatever reason nothing was done. In my job if i wasn't performing I would have to change/adapt or expect to lose my job, and in my opinion, the management team failed to adapt or come up with a plan B.

I'm not saying that some of the things said to him were acceptable, I along with some others admit I crossed the line. When you are very passionate about a club and want it to do well, it's very hard to watch the same mistakes being made time and time again. That's why I said we should remember Loui the player and his contribution on the pitch, not off it.

I do think that Loui and co should start a few levels below and work there way back up. No-one has doubted there work ethic and commitment and maybe with a fresh approach and new ideas, they will learn from this experience and grow.

Not sure I have actually heard or read much abuse that wasn't related to competence. Frankly workplace criticism over competence (and denial is an aspect of competence) is fair game, it is just a fact of life that the greater public exposure of the job, the more public the criticism is these days. Also, if you wait to be pushed rather than fall on your sword, that will increase the scrutiny. There are many in football who have wrongly suffered far more unjust and personal abuse than the ex management trio.

They started managing at too high a level. Good players don't necessarily make good managers. I wish them well for the future though.

Feel very ambivalent about this.

Firstly I'm furious with the board as I feel this is too little too late. If they wanted to sack the management team, they should have done it before New Year. Also no mention of an interim manager. Who's training the lads?

Feel gutted for Loui, Matt and Paul as I genuinely believe they tried their hardest but were way out of their depth. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

It'll be interesting to see who is brave enough to come in for the job.

I hope now we can all now come back together and get behind the lads, and that if we do go down, we go down kicking and screaming.

Although it is never nice when someone loses their job, I don't believe it is a sad day for Welling, but a turning point which I hope will be positive. Sad for Loui and co personally, but I support Welling not them individually.

As for abuse. Other than boo-ing and calling for them to resign, I don't think its got unnecessarily personal, as they all seem decent people when I have spoken with them, but as others mention above, when employed in the public eye it sort of comes with the territory to an extent. I don't think boo-ing consistently bad performance and results is overstepping the mark.

Tough decision, but the long overdue right decision.

Clean slate now, onwards and upwards. COYWs.

This has to be a positive move, even if a few weeks late. I believe the thre departing did their best, but when things did not go right they just didn't have the experience to know how to turn things around.

so no ill feelings towards the three.

now we have to all get behind the team, support the board, and make sure we do all we can to avoid relegation.

I join the majority in wishing TTA's all the best for their futures particularly the always a club legend Faz, be it on or off the field.

However, I still feel the board should be prepared for criticism should it be proved that it is now too late for anyone to turn things around and maintain our National League status. I find it particularly galling that the Operations Manager today declares, "We enjoyed a good run in the FA Cup this season but the league is our priority...". So why was this not made clear to TTA's when they rested players for the all important "six pointer" matches two months ago? Action should have been taken once the cup run ended so abysmally to give the new encumbents maximum time, to assess and make best use of the transfer market too.

Anyway, lets brush the past under the carpet now and renew all our energies in supporting the new management and players in our quest for safety, it will be tough for all. And at least I should now have encouragement to use the remainder of my six pick tickets. I was concerned I was running out of home matches!

It's a shame it didn't work out, he was quality as a right-back and a leader on the pitch. All the best Loui!

Put it this way, we've basically sacked three coaches. It'll be interesting to see who comes in and if they can actually turn results around.. one thing is for sure, they have a tough almost-impossible job on their hands.

A legend as a player who, in my eyes, earns legendary status as a manager to have picked up 6 points last season against Kiddy and Wrexham to keep us in the National League last season. But (particularly, striker) recruitment has long been the issue here.

I'm not sure we've got the resources to get a National League/upper non-league firefighter-type gaffer in to halt the slide, even with a good Cup run this season. I think 3 managers last season may have put paid to that. We may have to prepare ourselves for another Player-Manager.

A tough job but despite the terrible run we've been on, we're still in with a good shout of staying up if we can turn it round. Hope Loui is remembered as a player and also for keeping us up last season rather than this.

Wish them all the best. I think they conducted themselves with a lot of integrity throughout. The victory over Wrexham at the end of last season was the most enjoyable game of football, if nerve-shredding, I've seen for years. Hope to see them back in a job soon.

Unfortunately the 'management team's' position became untenable and the outcome was inevitable in my humble opinion. I do believe the board were right in offering Loui the chance to manage the team after assisting in keeping the club in the National League for this season.

Managing people who he once played alongside would have been challenging but there should have been guidance given from above (even if he didn't want it). I think the decisions he made (giving contracts) were in the interest of gaining loyalty from the players but going forward he may review his decision making. On the team's tactics and players picked, I felt that he may have over complicated things for himself resulting in some strange substitutions. Saturday for example was great, he took off Barney (a brave move) and tried a different formation. A little too late as there was only eight minutes left, but he tried something different. Personal issues hopefully did not sway his judgement, Michael Bakare has a lot to offer and if he's fit then give him a start, maybe up front to play alongside George Porter. Just because it's fashionable to play with one up front doesn't mean that it is the right formula for the players that are in the squad.

A fantastic servant to Welling United, you could always bank on him giving 100% as a player, the smallest player on the pitch but with the biggest heart. I echo everyone's sentiments in wishing him along with Matt and Paul all the very best for the future.

totally agree everyone wanted so much for it to work out but their lack of experience made it impossible to succeed. I am sure they will learn from this and come back to manage again initially  at a lower level and then be straight back to bigger things. They gave their all and were genuine in their efforts even if those efforts were in the wrong direction. I wish them all the best and it is always a sad day when anyone is sacked. Loui was a legend and that is how he should be remembered.
