what a shame for us. A super player who gave his all for Welling-how will we replace him?
Hand on heart he was due for a higher level and with Green he will progress his career and we can only be pleased for him. Very sad for us but hopefully it gives us enough money to get the striker we desperately need. Thanks Ben for all your honest efforts for us

A regular in the U21 who came on as a sub for the first team in November. Looks a great addition to the squad.

I'm sure that it's being worked on behind the scenes, but a striker would be very welcome!

Oh dear, not the transfer activity I was expecting. Welcome to the two lads from Brentford and Millwall, I hope they do well. A striker would be nice though, preferably before the weekend.

Sad to see Ben go, one of the good guys, but good luck to him, he certainly deserves moving up in class.

welcome to the new guys, shame it's only for month loans, but perhaps that can be extended to the end of the season if it suits everyone.

Chin up lads. The gaffer's already shown that he can bring in players of quality very quickly. I think we only missed out on Adebayor because the car park wasn't big enough for his car.

Absolutely no problem with Jefford getting a decent move, he has earned it and hopefully we get some decent money. However, that clause hasn't changed in the last three weeks, and it doesn't take a genius to guess who else knew about it.  So, unless  Messrs Frost and Day have got together and worked out it is a way to generate us money and them get a good player, I suspect Jamie might get a few thanks for a hospital pass....

It was Daisy who first brought Ben to PVR and realising Ben's potential, and Daisy's own impending ambitions, I wonder if he may have been instrumental in getting this release clause added to Ben's initial contract, which has then been carried over? Another steal by Daisy. I expect Corney may have the same clause in his contract? Anyway, good luck Ben and thanks for your immense contribution, you will be missed.

Corney signed a 2 year deal, so you would assume clauses would be different otherwise he probably would have only signed for one year.

Sad to see Ben go as he was a possible contender for player of the season. However we can't stand in players ways when they want to make the step up to full-time football.

As other's have said, I hope we get a decent fee for Ben. On the other plus side it's another good example to show potential incoming players that if they take the opportunity we offer them and give their all, great things can happen.

The clue in the fee, is that FGR triggered a release clause. After Beautyman.s pitiful clause we only have our selves to blame. Hopefully next season we refuse to use them, no other clubs have their major assets taken for buttons, its about time we learned.

I thought such clauses were only triggered if a League club came calling? I hope, given our perilous league position, the vultures are not circling for more assets.

I think we're stuck with the clauses and it wouldn't surprise me to see more of our players have them included in their contracts.

We can't offer players the wages and facilities other clubs in our league can BUT we can offer them the chance to progress their careers. If they're serious about doing that then they will likely want a release clause included. If we want a large release clause (that might put league clubs off) then the agent/player won't go for it.

I think we have a choice - have a good player like Jefford or Beautyman for a season or two and be resigned to losing them for low a transfer deal or not have them at all. I don't like it but that's the way I see it.
