2-0 down at half time. Frosty inherited too much of a sinking ship to turn it around. Unless things change in the boardroom I fear a double relegation.
Hobbins Out!

All to little to late. yes lets start planning for next season in the Con South. Look at dirtford pushing for the play offs ........
Same old, same old, men vs boys, cannot remember more than a couple of chances in 2nd half when we should have been pressing hard to get back into the match.
fact is we will now go down, but let's do it with pride and heads held high, after +25 years of supporting its a situation I've seen many times before so let's just keep going to the last, support the players who are doing their best, and look forward to being more competitive next season.

Other than the weaker opposition what evidence do you have for having confidence in our being more competitive next season? I'd be surprised if more than 3 of the current squad are with us at the start of next season. Most Conf South sides already have players signed up for next season- settled players with a game plan and furter realistic targets in their sights.

The team Frost has inherited isn't good enough, that much is true. The problem I have with this is that if we're acknowledging we are doomed to relegation, why did the board not make the change earlier? All this talk of "waiting to get the right man" - well what's the point having the right man if the task he faces is an impossible one? We may as well have made any old managerial change (after Carlisle or Macclesfield) and at least given someone time to reshape the squad, so that there would be no excuses for what we're witnessing currently.
If we lose every game between now and the end of the season will this excuse still wash? Is he already guaranteed the role next season?
How do we know who we could have employed if we never advertised the job?
I'm not saying he isn't the right man going forward - I just think it's piss poor from the board.
As for the players, the only ones I would be truly disappointed to see leave are Williams, Lokko, Lee and Corne. The rest are ten a penny.

Looking back Faz should have gone as soon as KSA was selected for the Carlisle match, in my opinion. I don't think his replacement was "selected" I think he was the only option available.
as for next season, yes a number of players will look to stay playing in the National league and will leave us, some should be discarded and whilst others, like Corne, should be retained, but I believe he's destined for better things so may well go but we should get a few quid for him as he's still got a year on his contract.
being competitive in the South next season is, I think, realistic providing we can bring through a few youngsters and keep the current training regime.
but we do need to start preparing now or we will slip through the trap door to lower leagues never to return.
Yes we need to prepare now. I'd be amazed if it was a 3 day training schedule. We used to still get decent loans when we were part time in the south before so I don't see why that would be different now except perhaps from the greater competition in our region.

Not a bad start and the tempo was good for the first 25 minutes but heads dropped after the first goal and they were a team well experienced in 'playing the ref'.
Classic case of men against boys. I think we shocked them by a good first 20 mins. Then we allowed our usual comedy tap in goal. Once the penalty went in there was no way back.....as usual. There are some decent players playing at PVR this year but there isn't a team just a collecting of players. No disrespect to anyone.
Was at the game yesterday. Started well in the first 20 mins, it was quite an even game but when they scored, it was the same old story. How the Hobbins think we will stay up with a team full of youngsters on loan I'll never know. The lad upfront on loan from Dagenham was totally inept, Gayle was average (hopefully Lokko will get his place back), Ferry was poor (what does he offer over Vidal, speaking of which, if he's been dumped from the squad, that's just ridiculous). The best player was Barney by a mile, he never stops and put a real shift in, same his teammates won't do the same. Rodak did well in goal. It's inevitable we are going down and I fear for the clubs future. I was speaking to Hobbins when I picked up my Carlisle tickets and they mentioned there was a big gap financially between National and South. With a smaller budget and no doubt lower attendances, it's going to be a struggle.
I think the board have to take the responsibility for this. They acted too late and needed to oversee things more when players were given contracts in the Summer who clearly are not up to this level. We need a side with more experience. When you look at Halifax beating Grimsby it says it all. We have lost and dont have the players to fight to turn a bad situation around. There is a clear lack of leaders on the park and we arent able to compete physically with the other teams. Teams come to PVR and play through us. Without a change in owners we arent going to get the invest for experienced Conference players at PVR. The South is full of tough teams, going down yes it looks inevitable but coming up will be hard unless we have investment.
Yes relegation is now almost certain, Yes bad decisions have been made re contract players and delaying the management change. But we are where we are - in deep trouble. Once in the South, I don't think Welling will ever get back into the National league. Already most of the teams in this league are full time and the leap in finances to achieve that is massive. The only, remote, chance would be a complete change of ownership and significant investment.
So, looking forward positively, we'll be in the South, most of the fans will stay loyal and with a more local league, sponsorship might even be simpler to attract. So the pressure on the budget might well be less. The team will need rebuilding, but that was always going to be the case.
What should we aspire to? A top third finish and a couple of good cup runs would keep me happy, and out of the pub on match days!
Another disappointing afternoon after being the better team for half an hour. There looked like some cohesion in the first half but once the first goal went in the chins hit the floor and that was that - game over. Wrexham grew in confidence in the second half and we were running around like headless chickens with no shape at all. Physically we are not good enough (just look at the teams when they line up before the game - must be the smallest Welling team I can ever recall) Mentally we are not good enough either and we have no leaders at all on the pitch. Once again the opposition play the referee and all we have to offer is a 17 year old in Ferry standing our corner....pathetic. I have been following Welling for a good few years now and we always use to put up a fight in the second half when attacking the road end and at least give the crowd something to get excited about. This season, when attacking the road end, we have been diabolical and the opposition keeper could have stayed in the changing room at half times most weeks.
Once again men against boys (or children) which we can do nothing about. Of course the hands of the current management team were tied as they inherited a squad and had precious little time to do anything about it. However I would say that we seem to have brought in quantity over quality and style over substance in the last few weeks and I can't honestly see where the next win is coming from....I am sure TEAMFAT can see the problems and credit to them for already casting out and/or getting rid of some of the bigger wasters in the squad.
I am sorry to say that, for me, relegation is now a certainty. I am also sorry to say that this current squad would struggle to compete in National South and I hope that Messrs Frost and Ashby can see that too and will act accordingly. It also means that crowds will drop, sponsorship will drop and the exposure of the club will drop too. We will not attract decent, experienced non league players until we abandon three mornings a week and revert to two evenings a week which I think will be the plan going forward. There is a lot of money sloshing around in the South division (even when £bbsfl££t take our place next season) but we can still hopefully build a competitive team and start to win some football matches.
I for one hope that TeamFAT are given the opportunity to build their OWN team for next year....you can REALLY see the frustration in Frosty interviews....he knows what is needed but as you say hands are tied.
Cannot see where we will get any goals from right now....go one down....we lose...
So...lets go out with heads held high and go again in Conf Sth
I for one do not agree that we will never come back....it has been proved..get the right team with the right team ethic and it is possible...even with the money clubs although hopefully we will lose 2 of those upwards next year
Of course we have to aspire to return to the National league, assuming we go down, but avoiding a further drop down the pyramid must be the first priority.
i feel more positive about next season as I like what I've seen of Frost, financially things should be less constricted and I believe we will be able to attract players to fill the gaps from the mass exodus in a couple of months time. But levels of training / fitness have to be kept up so that we can compete. So relegation, if it occurs, need not be a disaster but an opportunity?
I'd not support the "Hobbins Out" cries as I believe they have done a massive job keeping things going under extreem difficulty; but if someone were to come along with loads of cash to invest, I'd not shed a tear either.

I think that recruitment will be a real issue next season. We may well be competing in the same division as Margitt, D******* and one or both of Maidstone and Sutton all of whom have bigger fanbases and all of whom will have bigger budgets than us which may well mean we are left fighting over the scraps that they don't want. Having said that I trust the current regime to spend the budget far more wisely than their predecessors.....
Having just listened to the post match interview after Wrexham it is very clear that the manager is even more frustrated than we are! It is also abundantly clear that he is not happy with some players and/or their attitudes since he has taken over as he repeats that point a few times. Of course there is very little he can do about it now but I think his selections thus far are a clear indication of players that he doesn't have a lot of time for...
