Sorry SofaW, I'd forgotten about registering for the radio service separately - it all happened in the mists of time.

JGFC set this up as a subscriber service, though it was free.  There are technical issues about which I'm not clued up beyond the amount of bandwidth space JGFC has to buy is, in part if not entirely, determined by the number of listeners.  To ensure that all registered users were able to get the broadcast it was therefore necessary to know how many there were to buy the necessary bandwidth.  The feed also changed on occasion and the radio forum gave the correct feed.  If I've got this techie stuff 'a about f' I'm sure that when he has got over the excesses of the Cheltenham Festival out of his system JGFC will correct it.

Live broadcasting from matches has a long and troubled history and JGFC invested a lot of time, expertise, energy and a not insignificant amount of cash to set up the service.  It was halted by the Club as a licence was required from the Conference.  JGFC spent time trying to get the necessary information but had no joy and I took the matter up on his behalf with both the Club and the Conference.  Having discussed the matter with Graham Hobbins I contacted the Conference and at the second attempt got the information.  JGFC had a blood rush which takes us to the point in its history where the item pinned at the top of this forum was posted.

You will see that JGFC has basically had a kick in the unmentionables with only 4 people pledging to contribute towards the £250 licence fee, and one of them is an Angels supporter!  I haven't discussed the matter with JGFC lately but intended doing so at the close of the season.

I really can't see why the service didn't progress beyond the initial 'pirate' broadcasts other than the fact that it was being run by JGFC who it seems is totally ignored even when he is being constructive - after all he is the devil incarnate isn't he and those who are most critical of him are angels albeit that they have dirty faces!!!

Bruno,

Thank you for updating re the Radio service-shame it has not got off the ground maybe next season might bring a different slant. Has JGFC gone awol as he been conpicous by his abscence or has the cheltenham festival taken its toll that you are now hosting?

Tom, by the way I for one am missing your postings on here at least we had some idea what was going on.

JGFC has been conspicuous by his absence of postings on the board (and responding to a PM from me) though he has put a few gambling posts on the Connie South forum which is where I picked up about the Cheltenham festival.  His absence may have been extended while he gets over MK Dons beating Southend yesterday

I do have some moderator rights in terms of the forum but I'm not hosting.  As far as this thread goes I was responding in JGFC's absence since I have had some involvement in the issue.

Im still about. Just naffed off with the anon digs and stuff which continued in my absense, i reintroduced the forum on the site in the hope alot of the old regs would post, didnt happen as people continued to dig behind anon log ins, I then thought...maybe it IS me, so i gave it a break and still no hive of banter and debate. I guess those anons have their motives and reasons but i felt, why bother when they seem to have got what the wanted. In bed with the club and stiffling the other fans into being with them or with no one.

Im more than happy to give full moderation rights to BKK, Bruno and any other fan if it will increase the usage again. Its just a great shame, the forum on WOTW was one of the livliest around and had news, debate, banter and some great threads. Everyone wanted a piece of it and the abuse started.

Radio Wings / WOTW is on the back burner until things change or i am lifted into believing its all worth while. We have some great fans and decent people but we have some real arse holes too. I hpe things will change in the near future.

The radio was great, ive got used to people causing aggro, then doing the same thing, WOTW first did live match updates on the site, then wie/dover and others do it, We did 15 min highlights of video then James did it. We did radio then dover did it. LOL i even bought a professional tv standard camera to do a live match one day but no doubt someone would  have copied it.

Hopefully things can change but there are too many people with agendas and split personalities. If anyone has any ideas then feel free to comment.

I'm not sure that giving full moderator rights to anyone else is the answer.  I certainly prefer to have the rights I currently have which I feel are sufficient.  Further rights could only include deletion and board shutdown.  The latter  is a matter for the owner if things get truly out of hand and I feel that deletion of all or some text in postings and giving the reason is the best way to handle any censorship which is necessary.

Much of the answer is I believe the removal of all personal attacks and I was tempted to censor your post above to make my point but on balance decided against it.  I'm afraid fact or not negative things that happened in the past and were hotly debated (can't think of a more appropriate expression at the moment) at the time should stay in the past unless there is very good reason to drag them up again - to put it crudely picking scabs prevents healing.

Over to you peeps.

Keep up the good work fellas. It's good to have input from the likes of Bruno - for me - especially as he is eloquent and holds a reasoned debate in the face of adversity on here at times. Jgfc ain't such a bad fella either - at least he is honest. But as has been said. Forget the past (for now) concentrate on the Now and the Future.....

I like to keep abreast of things at Welling - after all - all the time we (Angels - not the dirty faces one's ) do end up with your left overs.

I really enjoy the debate on this forum and the news and Youth pages. Welling FC have no other voice. Just keep pounding away, it is an invaluable service to many.
