Big game today. Hopefully our centre half are back fit CBB is fit and ready to play left back and that MG selects the correct wide players in LVD and Johnson rather than Hatton and Morgan.

I think Danny Mills is suspended for Whitehawk after getting sent off last week which will be a bonus for us.

Lets get right behind the boys today for a famous victory.

Really poor so far. Long ball led to their goal. Fuseini shot hit the post.

0-1 Half Time. Awful all long ball. Not sure why Brown is playing at 11 when Della-Verde and Johnson are on the bench.

Awful, woeful, embarassing, disgraceful, shocking, clueless.

Choose as many as you like from the above. Sums it up perfectly

I agree, it was truly awful. I lost count the number of times we were caught offside.

Normal service, or lack of it, has been resumed!

Everything was running against us, again, but a terrible afternoon.

on this performance I can't see how we can expect to get anything out of the match next Saturday either.

Both of our wingers were dreadful- as they have been all season.

MG must stand down as manager or we could be relegated.

What a wasted opportunity squandered. Thoughtless, gutless. Pathetic.

Need get to get away from this 4-4-2. Clearly not working and we've changed bare players, Rome for anew formation maybe.

Now out the cup, in the relegation zone with some tough fixtures coming up. Oh dear oh dear.

Easy day for Whitehawk. 1-0 up after 4 minutes. Lovely jubbley. Stay calm. Claim every second ball against a unmotivated side. Get back on the coach. Go home for dinner....... Repeat next week.....probably. 12k wanked off. No passion. No clue. Possible money making tie gone. Possible TV money gone. I had hopes today and for the rest of the season after watching last weeks unlucky loss. That's gone now. What a load of ****.

It'll be interesting to see how much of the one and a half squads the manager has bought in was predicated on a cup run and thus is shipped out this week.

What a wretched day. I think we have the players, almost, to compete with most teams in our league but we're bewildered when we go behind. That's down to tactics and coaching. A few basics were also missing today that has to be down to the players - chasing down a time wasting keeper, being vocal to the easily influenced ref (just like their number 8), challenging for the 50:50 balls, playing balls when early enough when we're onside knowing full well they were playing a high line and maybe our keeper having a cap for low sun that led to their goal.

One of my worst cup games ever at Welling.

The worst culprit for me and I said it to MG is Morgan, his attitude from he off was terrible. One thing I will say though is MG is gutted....He feels completely let down by the players, and rightly so. A manager can give all the instructions and talks he wants, but he's not on the pitch to do it himself.

Morgan's not a left winger. He actually is a fantastic passer with great ball control and set up our best chance for Coombes. However his attitude stunk today, epitomised in the final seconds when, although clearly injured, he walked off rather than stand in the box for a corner. Any player not giving 100% should be shown the door. We are in a relegation battle and we need battlers.

Would agree in some part... Morgan seemed to have had enough, injured and probably really angry. No player could want anything other than to win (right?).

MG is a decent man, and Welling are in good hands. How it all goes when the depth of winter comes is to be seen..... the league position (3rd bottom now) is real.

Above all....   IMO remember the motto: Vis Unita Fortior (United Strength is Stronger)....and pull as one because Strength United is the More Powerful, or A United Force is Stronger.

No booing, no hissy fits or negative stuff..... Vis Unita Fortior

Really angry thinking back about it today. The players are taking the piss out of MG and the fans. Forget tactics- there was no fight, no passion, no bottle.

MG needs to stick the off field stuff that he is good at. Welling fans must be the most forgiving fans in the country as I don't recall anyone asking for him to step aside (or at least not seriously) but now is time for a change....

He was a tw@t who criticised us so was always onto a loser. MG is getting a free pass when we are heading for relegation....

First and foremost there were some strange selections on Saturday. Brown at left midfield was a weird one and Hatton is not and never will be a wide midfield player. If he is going to play he should play as one of three central midfielders and we need to abandon 4-4-2. With their high line and offside trap we needed runners from midfield to break through but that was the most one paced midfield I have ever seen at Welling in the first half. At least LDV gave the team some energy when he came on although I couldn't understand his central position for most of the second half.

Having said that regardless of what formation we played and the obligatory present we gave the opposition, we should at least be able to expect a modicum of effort from our team and some of them didn't even give us that. Welling fans over the years  have been a fairly tolerant bunch (unless they are slagged off publicly - hello Jody) but, in general, they can't abide a lack of effort. I wasn't at the Maidenhead game but a lot of people I spoke to were disappointed with that result but pleased, in the most part, with the performance of their team - on Saturday that was simply not the case. No heart, no desire, mentally and, in some cases, physically weak in an important Cup tie which could have got them and the club plenty of exposure if they had won. I have no idea if Whitehawk are any good - they looked to have some decent players and they were well organised and well drilled in defence - pretty much everything we are not. They also refereed the match extremely well and were probably as surprised as all of us as to how easy it was after we gifted them an early lead. I lost count of the times we blindly ran into their offside trap.

Not only did we lose the Cup game but we ended the weekend back in the bottom three. Make no mistake we are right in a relegation battle. On another forum it was mentioned that we have so far lost 13 points from winning positions in league games this season which is far and away the worst in the division?! In fact in our nine defeats we have taken the lead in four of those games! Whether we concede the first goal (as on Saturday) or concede an equaliser (as the previous Saturday) too many of them crumble and turn into nervous wrecks. Collectively they need to grow a f****** pair. These are not kids like last year's team - they are grown men, most of who have played at this level (or higher) and should do better. Welling teams over many years have not always had the best players but, in the main, they have always had heart and commitment. They played for the shirt, they played for their teammates, they played for their manager and they played for their supporters. Now they appear to play purely and simply for the pay packet.

How much does Saturday actually hurt them?? It hurt me and those around me. It hurt my son when I spoke to him after the game. In fairness having spoke to him after the game it was clear that it hurt MG as well. Perhaps it will only hurt them if Whitehawk pull out a plum draw later today and they see what they and the club have missed out on.....

Oh and one last thing. When WUSA tabled a motion a couple of years ago to ban musical instruments from the ground, the motion was narrowly defeated. I trust that, after Saturday, all those who voted against it were suitably embarrassed. If I want to listen to "music" I turn on my radio or put a pair of headphones on. PVR is a football ground not an open air orchestra pit. I will plead with the club again but it looks like we have that "pleasure" to look forward to again on Saturday....

Spot on, as usual, Wingnut - albeit at length. I supported the move to ban musical instruments and would support a further attempt to ban them. However, the Whitehawk combo with its cowbell was not as unmelodious as the monotonous Dartford drum bludgeoning. Bring back rattles (bird scarers).

When selecting players to sign you should hopefully understand what motivates them to perform and understand what levers to pull to get that performance. You'd hope that MG would have that understanding as all bar Johnson have been his  recruits.

He may be in a near perpetual state of disappointment with them at the moment but that isnt sticking points on the board.A good hard look needs to be had by everybody.

One danger of shipping everyone out is we dont have a player of any length of service who can turn round and say 'FFS, this is not the standard we turn in here' even if we are struggling. What price would you give for a Mike Rutherford or Scott Kinch at the moment?

Kinchy had limited ability but more than played his part in our title winning team including scoring several goals.
