I think that was definitely a game of two halves. Neither team were very impressive in the first period maybe due to the inactivity for a couple of weeks?? However we still created a couple of very good chances and were denied by an excellent save as well. Credit to Fish and Hatton for some last ditch tackles as the game might have been different had we gone behind.
Second half was a lot different with us moving the ball a lot quicker and keeping it a lot simpler as well. Two cracking goals among the four and it could and should have been more had Slabber taken both his chances. I also felt that we looked a lot fitter than Oxford the longer the game went on which may be down to the extra work on that under Jamie Day and Co??
I flagged it up on here previously and it still needs sorting out. There appears to be only four defenders in the squad and when one gets injured (as on Saturday) then we are forced to put a midfielder back to centre half. I am sure Waldren can do a more than adequate job at centre half but we really should have addressed this by now and have some sort of defensive cover rather than a bench consisting of four forwards and a midfielder. Not sure what the issue is/was with Francis but, if he is missing tomorrow (and/or further games in the next few weeks) then we need at least one other option and I don't mean someone from the Millwall or Charlton creche either...

He felt a twinge and was taken off as a precaution. He should be fine tomorrow. I raised the issue of lack of cover with Tristan Lewis and he agreed that it is an issue and that he would be more comfortable with another CB in the squad.
