It frees up a he'll of a lot of money to bring someone else in. There were rumours that someone had come in for Coombes on Saturday so I'm sure they have been looking for someone as a replacement.

I can understand that, Polo. But Adam has been prolific and is not easy to replace at this stage of the season as any newcomer will have to settle in.
There was something online about Sutton signing Adam Coombes from the same person who did the tweet but the article has been deleted now!
Let's hope it is rubbish. The post is still on the Sutton United forum though. On our twitter, the poster has been reminded that a 7 day approach is required.

If we win on Tuesday am not sure it'll matter in the slightest. Margate are dead on their current budget, Gosport are running a reduced budget team with corresponding results and Stortford arent powering on. Add to that ground grading at Poole and Hungerford and I suspect even we could do a low key freewheel over the line.
Good luck to Adam - can't fault his time at our club and without him we would really be in the brown stuff. Turned down offers before as I understand and I am surprised we kept him as long as we did.
I hope his body can take playing on that surface very other week...??
The 'journalist' who broke the news of Adam's transfer went on to say he signed too late to play a part in Sutton's cup tie against Arsenal! Apart from it was only a few hours before the game, a little research wouldn't go amiss as well!
Was the seven day approach put in last week? If Tristan Lewis knew on Saturday, I wouldn't want to play poker against him. He spoke about the importance of his goals to ensure safety.
Had two approached from league teams before Xmas...and other teams interested....and he's signed for Sutton ??? Really ?? Doesn't seem the most well thought through move ??
This has got to be the most depressing season for many years and I've been a regular season ticket holder for 15 years now. Apart from the generally bad results the club seem to be a bit of a shambles. We've had Barney Williams and Corney go for nothing even though they were still contracted. We had Daisy return Hooray!!!! only to bugger off again and no compensation because he was non contract. Nanetti goes for nothing again not contracted To top it all our 34 goal prize asset leaves for nothing again not contracted. Things can only get better because surely they can't get worse. Or could they?

Fair comments. Sort of makes all the efforts to raise the income off the field, which appears to be working well, rather meaningless, when you loose assets for nothing. I understand we cannot make people sign contracts though. But to see FIVE assets walk this season for ZERO return is hard to swallow.
Sorry but stop the negative boll*cks.....this is non league football....sad that Coombsey gone and as my previous post can't believe with 34 goals so far he has opted for Sutton......but the current interim mgt team are talking a good story and I'm impressed with their honesty and have in the last 24 hours reacted to Adam potentionally going and brought in Vas and our new left winger...good work guys !! Two away points where we should have had 3 then should have lost tonight is good enough for us......keep the positivity-we have some quality footballers...and are playing some great football...COYW

Am disappointed to see Coombes go and that he's 'settled' for Sutton. Have enjoyed seeing him score goals and good luck to him but a big part of me hopes Sutton get relegated!
