Not a great first half but the very dominate second half gave us the deserved win against poor opposition. M.O.M for Alex for me with another strong show from Walker..

And amid all the euphoria some tactical nous would be good. It was blatantly obvious withinin 10 minutes that Walker had their left back on toast yet whomever is our 'manager' this week decided swapping the wingers was a good idea. The second goal shows it wasn't.

We won today because Gosport were utter rubbish not because we were any good.

Time for positive thought I think, we moan enough when we loose by 4 or 5 to " top" teams so let's give some credit when we have a good win against a team below us in the league.

The first half was very poor and I thought we were heading for a goalless draw, but they certainly came out with a different attitude and looked, at times, in a different class.

just watched the TV interview and certainly get the feeling that Alex will be with us next season if we avoid relegation.

So a good Saturday all round, I even sent off the cheque for the new season ticket!

The positivity will come from the close season activity in my opinion.....watching a re build....signing players that know and are or have had success at this level...that are prepared to run through brick walls plus have a smidge of talent too!

This season has been terrible and without the JD weeks we would be dead and buried by now!

Dont know too much about Dyer but it appears he would like the job from watching the interview....I also like Tristan but not as a number 1 and he has quickly deferred to Dyer as manager

We will see I guess

Thought the referee had a good game today. Liked the interaction with the crowd.
Too many referees have their heads too far up there arseholes.
As for Gosports goalkeeper, perhaps if he concentrated more on the game than being the opponents supporters best mate then they may not be where they currently are.
Maybe not, but he certainly helped us by stirring up trouble with his own team mates.

Not a great first half, then we come out a different team in the second and cruise to a 4-0 victory. It is easy to assume that Alex Dyer gave a momentous and inspiring team talk at half time, and I'm quite sure he had some input, but we may be forgetting another important factor. That of Craig Lewis, with his experience in Portugal coupled up with the hot sunny day, he knew what science to apply to get the desired result. A quick phone call to the ice cream parlour in the high street and he knew the win was going to be a done deal. The players were promised 'ice creame de Algarve' if and only if they put Gosport Borough to bed. Sport science at its best, Craig could be one of our most important signings yet.

I agree he had the left back all day long, but i think you will find the only time they swapped was when reece had to go to his side to take a corner...as soon as the phase of play was over from corners thwy swapped back.

Absolutely. There's no point in trying to paper over the cracks. Gosport were just ****er than we were.

Agree with "Hoof It", the referee yesterday was good.  He was always up with play, sensible with his decisions and had a good rapport with the players and spectators.  Fair play to him, and I hope he is marked high by any assessor.

The funniest thing was when he called a drinks break and Matt Fish asked him why. The referee said that it had been asked for so Fish said "Who by? Are you thirsty?" Eventually, it was Fish who took him a drink.

A good second half showing against a desperately poor Gosport side - not hard to see why they have conceded 90+ goals in the league thus far. Outside of the Margitt team that came to PVR on New Years Day comfortably the worst team I have seen at PVR for some time. However you can only beat what is in front of you and, eventually,  we did just that.

First half was two poor sides who were seemed scared of losing rather than  trying to win. Clearly we had the beating of them out wide but Cathline couldn't get hold of the ball and got bullied which he really shouldn't when you look at the size of him?! The very early goal second half was clearly the turning point for him and us. It gave him confidence and we played the ball into him and he held it up and turned the centre halves at will. Two tidy finishes but the jury remains out for me - there are definitely some raw materials to work with there but he needs a lot of coaching on centre forward play and his fitness also needs working on in my humble opinion. PJD is a natural in front of goal (although he should have buried that header for a hattrick!) but his goals to game ratio is very good. If we could just keep him fit.....If Walker plays it has to be wide right as he is a threat and can deliver a decent ball - needs to add a few more goals to his game but he has scored a couple recently and also hit the woodwork more than once. Waldren gave his all as he does week in week out but Hatton could and should be doing more alongside him. The full backs were steady and it is nice have two big centre backs who stick to the basics and use their height to maximum effect as well. Lewington did well when called upon as he has for most of the season and hopefully we can retain his services going forward.

Nearly over the safety line and hopefully another good home result on Friday will secure our National South status for next season. Nothing to get excited about in the grander scheme of things but will still be a relief after a very poor season.
