How did we not give our reserve keeper a run out?
How did Nanetti not get a start?
How did we not get a result?

An entertaining game but feels like two dropped points. Bognor were bog standard defensivey. A Jamie Day side would have won that by 4 or 5.

Should have won, had some great chances. Goldberg MOM by a mile, he was superb. Barnes redeemed himself with that late save. Terrible defending for their first goal but have to say all three of our goals were excellent.

Poor defensively for a couple of goals but good going forward. If Gayle made it 3-1 or Goldberg makes it 3-2 with their chances then its a different game.

I still think people need to remember that only 2 or 3 players remain from last season and it will take time to gel. Maybe Parky could replace Francis at centre half Tuesday with Olu coming in the middle? I thought he looked useful today off the bench.

Definitely conceding too many goals but as Polo says - it is early days so hopefully we will come good. I will be getting myself to the upcoming games so hopefully they will be as good as todays one (but with a win)

Don't blame our keeper for their second goal. Parkinson should never have allowed the cross to come in. He needs to pull his finger out and get up to speed pronto. Healy and Dymond booked again. When we eventually lose them to suspension we're in trouble midfielder wise. Overall we should of had a hatful. The game could of finished 9-6. I feel encouraged by what I saw today. There was plenty of effort and just need to keep the mistakes down. Keep working on the shape and organisation and I think we could start picking up the wins.

According to the team sheet we did not have a reserve keeper and why would you want to give him a "run out" anyway? The time for "run outs" has gone, consistency must be the watch word now.  Score today could have been anything, but I do wonder if we have got the shape right.  What is for sure is that we will not survive  with 15 players!

A far more enjoyable game to watch than on Tuesday, and a game we could and should have won, but that's football.

An encouraging performance I thought, we just need to gel as a team a bit more.

Agree Goldberg was MoM, and Nanetti certainly made an impact when he came on.

looking forward to next Saturday

We signed a back up keeper yesterday but the registration did not go through in time.

What was very strange today was that there was no one positioned at either stand for the £2 additional seating charge. Had it ready to hand over but no one there!

Someone did tell me a while ago that o'malley comes from Wigan for games? If true then he may have found a new club or decided that he doesn't want to do the travelling?

Contrasting two games: solid defence Tuesday with a toothless attack especially in the second half completely turned on its head in true Welling style yesterday where we had chances galore but were sluggish at the back.

Young sub looks quite a find though.

Agreed. I would like to see the team that finished the game as the starting line up on Tuesday.

If it's anything like yesterday's game, which was great entertainment, it could be seven three again but this time, hopefully, in favour of the Wings!

I emailed the club and Barry confirmed they were let down by staff so stands were not covered for £2 charge. That's a fair bit lost in gate receipts.

A cracking game for the neutrals but a game we should have won comfortably. We really clicked going forward with a couple of tweaks to the formation but we still couldn't find the balance between defence and attack?!

We have now conceded 7 in 3 games. The first goal at Truro was a deflection which we couldn't do much about and the third Bognor goal showed some good approach play by them but the five goals in between were all very much avoidable. They were down to poor defending, poor decision making or poor goalkeeping and, in the case of Bognor's second goal...all three! Without any exaggeration we could and perhaps should have been looking at a three or four goal victory on Saturday and yet we are indebted to a great save from our keeper in injury time to prevent a third straight defeat?! I thought the back four played well against Chelmsford, individually and collectively, but they didn't look too clever on Saturday. Gayle looked like a centre half playing full back and there was some hesitation throughout.

Going forward, as the manager said in his interview, we had enough chances to win 3 or 4 games. Playing Goldberg closer to Bradbrook definitely improved his output and he was a threat throughout although maybe he would feel that he should have had more than one goal. The balance in midfield was better and i thought the young lad Durojaiye did well when coming on although I am a bit confused as to what his best position is?! I would have liked to have seen Pattison get a run in the second half as his pace against tiring defenders could be a real asset. He played a lot pre-season but has had little or no chance in the first three games. Unlike many on here I am not a big fan of Nanetti - too many tricks and not enough end product for me.

I don't think we are very far away at all from being a decent side at this level. I don't even think we need (m)any personnel tweaks - we just need players who we know are capable of better to be be more consistent (and stop conceding stupid bookings..) If we can get the balance between defence and attack right then I think we can have a good season.

Up the Wings!

If you watch the Truro goals you will find he assisted both as well as playing a part in One Joe's equaliser on Sat.

Good point on the Truro goals - I sit corrected.

I would like him to do more from open play and also let someone else take direct free kicks around the edge of the box - don't think he has got one past the wall yet after about three or four attempts?!
