On behalf of the editor, this is an appeal for fresh ideas and new contributors to improve the programme next season.

Please let me know if you have an interest. All suggestions are welcome.

Thank you

how about a feature in each edition on former players? Im thinking in terms of those like Steve Finnan who made the grade at the highest level thanks to an initial session with WUFC.

Over the season of a couple of dozen home matches there must be enough to do a what did they do / where are they now feature?

NOT  that Im volunteering!

One thing that struck me towards the end of last season, Mark, is that, while news about on-field matters was very good; off-field news wasn't and that future club plans and ambitions are often formed on the basis of fan rumour and conjecture. I'm not saying this should happen with every edition of the programme next season, maybe a monthly update. I would buy the programme more if so.

Why not make the programme 'online' for a subscription?

That would be great but the research would be exhausting. I've got no idea on what Steve Finnan is doing now, for instance.

Very good idea. I'll take it forward.

I shall mention it. New ideas and contributors for the content is the urgent requirement.

I was just reading a few minutes ago that many clubs are thinking of not having them next season...or at least seeing if the league will allow that

Will be interesting...that's why I asked...if we sell 300 then great....if we sell 30 then maybe no need...I too have no idea

Just put his name in a google search and you get pages of stuff, not sure if that would work for everyone of course.

Definitely more news around the academy and perhaps a monthly column from M Goldberg with an update on off the field matters.

 Agreed.

Also what about those player interviews which we can do for every programme with a new squad and loanees during the season.

Best player you have played with

Best player you have played against

Best/worst dressed

Biggest Joker

Best goal you have scored

Pre match meal

Etc...etc...etc....

A history of the PVR ground and some of the famous teams and players who have played on it either against ourselves, Bexley United, Bexleyheath and Welling and Bexleyheath Town - attendances of 4,000 for Kent League games! The day it hosted Manchester United's Busby Babes (including the late Duncan Edwards) in the quarter final of the FA Youth Cup, old pictures of the ground in the 1930's - apparently it had quite a magnificent stand which was either destroyed or damaged by enemy action in the 2nd World War. Also extensions to our current old stand were opened by Sir Stanley Rous, President of FIFA!

Steve Finnan was a full international so there is plenty about him on-line but if you try John Bartley, the trail went cold years ago.

If someone is prepared to do the donkey work then there may be some interest.

It would be very interesting but it would take someone a lot of time to research and put that all together.

I stopped buying the programme (mostly) last season. Most things I could get online but i think a programme needs to deliver things you can't get elsewhere. Tricky nowadays but as mentioned updates from MG welcome, away fans view, academy updates plus more about our commercial plans as that seems very quiet at the moment. 'On this day' feature (or at least a look back at a previous season) or look at our previous match against the opposition. WUSA news is important and i quite like the away guide to upcoming fixtures.

Thank you all, once again. There is a meeting of the current contributors and the editor on Thursday and I will take all suggestions forward.

Should anyone feel that they would like to be involved, you are more than welcome to come along.

As an aside, an Essex wicketkeeper played at PVR - Brian "tonker" Taylor played as fullback for a few years for Bexleyheath and Welling. We knew him as "the tank" as he was ruthless and took no prisoners. As a top wicketkeeper he took 1,294 dismissals making him the seventh best in all-time first class cricket - shame he did not play for Kent, but he would not have displaced Godfrey Evans or Alan Knott.
