I never will understand the 'you can have him but he can't play against us' mentality which gave rise to the deduction of 3 points from H&W. If you release or sell a player then to my way of thinking thats just what you do and you should have no say in what he does or doesn't do in the future. The situation is slightly different if a player is loaned out and is in effect playing against his club but I still tend to think that the while you are not paying him you shouldn't be allowed to call the shots.
Looking at the league table it has obviously had an impact on the play off places but with 2 games in hand on all bar one of the sides now above them and only 1 point from a play off place it certainly isn't going to shatter H&W hopes for a play off place. The real impact is on Weymouth, who were I think hoping for a replay and expecting 3 points, should they falter and St Albans not but with my take on the situation I'm not going to shed any tears about that.
While play off places are in mind I see we have another farce with Lewes, for the second year running, not being able to compete if they finish in a qualifying position (which they surely will) as the work on their ground wasn't completed at 1 April and as far as I know despite last year's experience there is still no contingency to substitute the side finishing in 6th place
