Wasnt so big after all. I thought maybe about the ground or future club/owner plans but generally an update on the budget and team affairs. Welcome news really as I dont want us chasing promotion at all costs.

Snippets like this regularly would really help club/fan relationships.

I welcome it. Just need more of it.

I totally agree. This was one of the things I asked for at the start of the season. A monthly column in the programme or on the website would be a good step. We need to hear more from MG on a more frequent basis.

Good to see this, and to see that the management are strong enough to be realistic and take the difficult decisions.

A few similar statements would show a bit of respect to the loyal fan base.

The key point is reduced sponsorship.

We have no commercial activity and i believe Roots number was included in any rare contact us to sponsor announcements.

We simply have had no one who's sole or at least main responsibility is to generate commercial income, choosing instead to say we are Welling if you know about us chuck us some money... just because.

The people they employed to do the commercial in the last couple of seasons before this season were abysmal and since then they've not even bothered. Other than to try and keep hold of the sponsors they already have.

Good communication from the chairman though who needs better support from his number two imo to make the infrastructure solid and the club sustainable.

That needs to be by generating revenue through sponsors or attracting new fans.

If they haven't got the knowledge or inclination then clubs such as Dulwich, Woking, Sutton and Eastleigh all boosted crowds through season tickets for £100 ish so they might consider that to get plenty of numbers in the ground but as they've francised out the bar and the catering (and academy?) they might consider bringing that back in house so we benefit from increased numbers.

Just watched Steve King's post match comments and he looks genuinely gutted about the departures from the club.interesting to see his opinion that perhaps to many have gone.one thing for sure is that we do finally make the playoffs with only 16 players it will be quite can achievement. Yet another poor attendance yesterday...the club really need to start looking at some sort of ways of promoting itself to attract more spectators. I understand Charlton are up the road but surely there must be some way of attracting more fans.

No point in carrying on then. We might as well win three or four more games that guarantees safety and ease off for the rest of the season.

Well ....that is also what others think too.....I dont suggest that we do that ...I am suggesting that we are not ready to go up as we will not have the money to be able to compete

Finally communication from the club and not before time.

I have no problem with the announcement as we have to live within our means and can't sustain a big playing squad on the crowds we currently get. MG has history of cutting back later in the season at Bromley and it is right that we don't continue to spend money we haven't got.

As others have said the commercial arm of this club has been next to non existent for years now, both under the old regime and the current regime. I understand that they can't finance a commercial manager but there must be more they can do to attract more paying punters and more sponsorship. The fanbase has provided some ideas in the past and I know there are people with different skill sets who could add things on the commercial side. We need to get more people through the gates on a regular basis and we need to identify other forms of revenue away from a Saturday afternoon or else we will just stagnate.

Maybe an open meeting with MG and the fans to discuss and share ideas?

Problem with that is people would attend to 'air there views'.

Him attending a WUSA commitee meeting maybe more suitable and with people given the chance to put suggestions forward to be passed on. I know they had one recently and a general meeting is coming up so maybe it can be suggested then.
