Vacancy for Welling United Club Secretary announced on twitter. Looks like Barrie Hobbins has decided to retire after so many years since the club's formation. He is very well respected by non league clubs everywhere.

It might be nice for the club to confirm one way or the other. Is this someone to work with Barrie, to replace or to gradually take over?- Another example of communication missing.

If Barrie is retiring then someone needs to work closely with him for a while to understand what a job he has done for the club. The occasion shouldn't go unmarked either

We now have a prime candidate to become the new President of the Club. I can think of no other person who would be more deserving of this honour than Mr Hobbins.

With Barry removing himself as a director a few months ago and Barrie vacating his secretary post. Surely its time for WUSA to organise a testimonial for them?

Agree Barrie should be a lifetime president

As for Secretary we surely have a ready made successor in Chris Roots who has been learning behind the scenes since hes been at the club having previously been at Croydon.

Surely it would be better to have someone who actually knows something about football.

Hes not everybody's cup of tea, the fact hes been learning what Barrie has done for a couple of years hes seems the perfect choice.

A wonderful opportunity for him to get his hands dirty and make a difference. Was he secretary at Croydon just before they went pop?

I'd much rather have someone that knows the club than someone coming from kent leaque or a pub team.

Whoever gets the job you would hope its not another cost cutting excercise and anyone who will do it for nothing with no knowledge or experience of football at this level and the one above.

Secretary and a proven commercial manager are must haves and those making the decisions on who is appointed have to get it right And not hire the free or cheap option just for the sake of it.
