Week after week he is the postman as he always delivers ! Injuries, suspensions and a budget that is bottom three not top four! If we dont start talks NOW, I feel we will lose him and the team as they seem as if they only want to play for him. In my eyes, top teams will come in for him based on his record and what he has done this year, if he goes it will be a tragedy.
From what I understand our budget is far from being bottom 3. But King has done a great job. I believe it's true that he's on a 2 year contract but if he does n't want to stay then its not easy to force him. I believe if he keeps the nucleus of this team we can win the league next season if we don't win the play offs.
Either way it's time to ask him the question. We don't want a situation like Hampton had last summer with the manager leaving and a new manager having to build a whole new squad.

What need to happen is the club be realistic with the budget at the start of the season, massively overspent at the start of this season then couldn't sustain it.
Should be here's what you've got, if we get a cup run or any other money come in you can have it, not spend spend spend thinking gonna have a cup run or relying on things like boost the budget and handouts from fans.
Must agree with Jamison, Steve King like most managers must be needy in his requirements. If you are given licence to develop a squad that, in our case, reached the late twenties in players, then if you do not get a substantial lift in income then you are going to suffer later in the season. That time has come and SK is working wonders with what he has got, lets hope the relationship between him and MG remains positive, if not then he may not see his contract out.

In three words I can sum up everything i've learnt in life; it goes on.
Presumably the original budget was agreed with MG and the Board? I agree that managers like to spend a bit and Steve and his magic contact book had a few outings. However, we also have to remember that SK and the club has suffered from an exceptional and worrying run of injuries which almost worked on the basis of one back but three more in the treatment room. People had a pop at SK for having too many central defenders, but by gosh we needed them. Full credit to MG for funding player replacements during that period, which did not go without appreciation from SK - and which laid the foundations for our play-off position. But Steve has also proved he can get the best out of a small squad. I hope Steve and MG have a good chat and that between them we can look forward to even better times next season - hopefully in the division above!

I believe the key to keeping SK may well be whether MG funds bringing in 2 players before Thursday's Window. We're in a great position but with a brittle squad that could easily run out gas and a golden opportunity lost in SG eyes.
Got to try to get SK to stay. There's a feel good factor at the club that I've not felt since the last Jamie Day championship winning side and even then this season seems more satisfying with a marked improvement in the style of play.
C'mon MG one last push, a forward and a winger (especially as Naz seems out). Season ticket for 2019/20 in the post!
The problem is that there has to be a balance. Steve King has proved that he is an excellent manager and has players running through brick walls for him and I'd be very disappointed if he was not to return next season. However, the board cannot spend money that it does not have and cause the club to go bankrupt. It's a tough one.
I agree Mark. Overall future has be priority but short-term players could lead to greater financial benefits. Like you say it is tough one especially when we can't see accounts
there is a point we are missing here, Id suggest, do we believe the Club Management actually wants to get Welling back in the National League? With the lack of sponsorship and no increase in crowd numbers survival in the National League would need a big investment, several times the cost of getting a few players on loan for a month.
perhaps the Board aspirations relate more to being successful at the current level but with a few decent cup runs to spice up the season?
I just hope Im wrong and we see a full bench for the rest of the season.

Understood. But sometimes a gesture pays off in the long run. Would season ticket sales, "early bird" or otherwise be lifted by news of signings to boost the squad for the run-in and further boosted by confirmation by both Mark Goldberg and Steve King that Steve will be here next season? I don't know, but is it likely to be more beneficial than harmful?
Why would he need to announce now he will be here next season? He still has a year to run on his contract.
Would it do any harm? How long was his contract at Whitehawk when he joined us? Together with signing much-needed players for the run-in it signals intent and ambition. If there is no intent or ambition, and the desire is just to tread water, let's see what impact that will have.
