Rod Stringer the Chelmsford boss on Sundays game;

  • "we`ll do everything that we can to get to the Final"
  • "that hill is always awkward" (never heard our slope called that before!)
  • "they`ve got good game management, they know how to get round the officials and get a lot of decisions so we`re gonna have to be good at that on the day"

I hope the ref doesn`t take any nonsense from him as he seems to be on the war path against officials. After we beat them 2-0 he said;

"It`s embarrassing, the levels of officials are embarrassing, and I say that; it`s embarrassing....I'm disappointed with what i have to witness every week...so poor"

Ref is: Scott Jackson will be the man in the middle for Sunday`s tie against Welling United at Park View Road. The Royal Navy FA affiliated referee has officiated twenty Vanarama National League South fixtures this season.

Josh Hill seems like a nice bloke to me. Never found him to be awkward. Lol.

Stringer came out with some classics after the match. He does seem to think his team were better than that actually were and the only thing soft about the penalty would have been if the ref bottled it and not given it. The Chelmsford bench were a disgrace after they got it back to 2-2 but they were brilliant though and it was all the refs fault.....

  • We were the better side, a lot more fluency, more pace, better on the ball
  • If you aint got that right you`ve just killed my football club
  • That was a soft, soft penalty
  • Second half there was only one team going to win that game
  • We had 70% of the game and played really good football, really good football
  • This was our game
  • The cruellest play off decision in the history of play offs

Can't argue with that. Only one team did win it.

Chelmsford and fluency in the same sentence....hahahahahaha

He did get it right and I think your club is still alive

Most people I asked thought it was definitely a penalty

One team was defending a lead in a play off semi final - the other didn't create any clear cut chances

Real.y good football......You lumped it forward at every opportunity

It was our game mate. You scored 3 but one was in the wrong net!

The timing was cruel but the decision was not.

Bye bye Rod...have a good summer

Over the course of two matches Chelmsford have proved that they are a not bad footballing side. However you can count their goalscoring opportunities on one hand. Regardless of how difficult it is to handle we won both matches fair and square and Mr Stringer should sit down and reflect on why his side are not playing next Sunday, it is nothing to do with Welling United and more to do with the fact that we scored three fair goals to their two. He can rant and rave as much as he likes for the benefit of his local audience, however, it will not change the result. We have had a great season, and regardless of the result next Sunday we can only be proud of what we have achieved. If only we could retain a couple hundred of the casual supporters who attended yesterday, I am sure we would be on a more stable footing.
