Unfortunately I today received the very sad news that Jeff Spooner, known by many at the club as Executive Lounge Bertie, sadly passed away on Sunday morning after his battle with illness.

Jeff was a dedicated supporter, travelling many miles from his home on the Kent coast to support the Wings and was a familiar face at PVR.

Our thoughts are with his wife Jenny and the rest of the family at this sad time.

This is really sad news, Jeff was really passionate about WUSA having a voice within the club especially when the club was going through the financial troubles of 2010.

Jeff was always was always good for a chat and beer in the upstairs bar.

Let's win Sunday and do it for Jeff!

My thoughts are with Jenny and his family, RIP Jeff you will be sorely missed.

RIP Bertie.

Had many a chat/argument about football over the years and his passion for WUFC was there for all to see.

Sad news, he had been battling illness for some time but still kept his passion for the Wings. I had the pleaure of sitting next to Jeff for years 30 odd years ago and you wont find many supporters who cared as much as he did or put up money when he thought it would help.

My thoughts go to his wife Jen and the rest of his family and those who knew him well.
Lets hope the players go and win tomorrow in his memory.

R.I.P comrade. Up the Wings

Just a thought. How about WUSA paying for a plaque for the memorial wall for Jeff and Eric?

Very sad to hear this news. Jeff was obviously a very loyal and dedicated supporter and a regular, interesting poster on this forum for many years.

A friendly face over many years far and wide. Always up for a chat and though we disagreed about many things that were not football related the debate was always civilised and put to one side at the end, which is a sadly fading trait these days.

Hopefully he did not suffer much in the end. A pleasure to have known him and will remain in our thoughts and stories going forward. Rest easy mate.

My father was absolutely passionate in his support of Welling United FC.
He was lucky to have had so many kind and equally devoted Wings fans to share this with.
Despite my sorrow, I wanted you to know how your thoughts and wishes have made me
smile and feel happy that he was appreciated by so many, on the terraces.
Thank you so very much, his loving daughter,
Verity xxx

Jeff was much loved at Welling - of that there's no doubt. Was a pleasure to have known him and to have spent enjoyable time in his company.

He will not be forgotten.
