Interesting, I wonder now how big the squad is going to be?

Still need some real striking talent up front though, other than Brad G

Brad is best in a three with a free role to drift into any three positions or in behind two, his movement and link up play is good and he will hit the target more often than not and work the keeper. He may be ok with a prolific striker in a two. We've seen though he is not prolific when hes playing with someone who doesn't score regularly (IE someone who isn't good enough). Hopefully they don't play him in a two with a goal shy striker and they learn their lesson and get the best out of him.

Couldnt agree more! He was our second top scrorer last season with 12 goals, only 1 less than Kiernan. he definitely does his best work in a three playing behind and picking up loose balls and linked up very well with kiernan and McCallum. So great McCallum has stayed on. Like you say he generally finds the target and from range as well. But we definitely need another prolific striker for him to feed off of. He was awful the season before alongside Bradbrook. Bradbroook couldent hit a barn door and Goldberg just scuttled around him not doing much. Lets hope another signing is on the cards and were not just relying on this kudus fella whos record has a lot to be desired.

MG is never going to play a three up front as he is a 4-4-1-1 man and get it wide and occasionally a 4-4-2, so imo the best option to get Brad scoring and being at his most effective is play Brad behind two strikers or next to Aguero if we really must persist with 4-4-1-1 / 4-4-2. We are going to need goals as the current full backs do not fill me with confidence playing in MGs formation, as remember last time, we more more open than the 24 hour hour Tescos and almost every time we lost the ball the oppo cut us open. I do not see the full backs (or centre backs) we have being able to stop the inevitable attacks when we are open.

Its all about the recruitment.

I guess that as pictures go up with Hugo and the new players rather than him and the secretary having to keep going to the club, it makes sense to do it in batches.

Sam Corne has signed for Maidstone. I was hoping hed sign for us. The problem is that if we are looking SE London\Kent players then our rivals seem to be paying more. Although King had a large budget he seemed to be able to find good players from all over the country, many of whom hed worked with before.

Ive not got a problem with us looking at trialists but it seems to me that once again we are starting our pre season fixtures a week too late and we dont have enough games!

You want us to start pre season in June...?!?! Granted the schedule does look a little thin at the moment but less is more for me when it comes to friendlies. Yes the team needs some time to gel but a lot of them will be familiar with each other and know some/all of the coaching and management team so it's not quite like starting from scratch.

Lest we forget that we play around a quarter of our league fixtures normally by the end of September and the lucrative FA Cup also starts in mid September as well. I don't want to be (over) playing friendlies with what will be presumably be a smaller squad than SK had and being told that the players are knackered in three months time...

Yes I do. Both Dartford and Tonbridge are starting their pre season this weekend and unlike ourselves they both seem to have similar squads to last season. Also our first match is against Margate (also their first match) who start their league season a week after ourselves.

Our coaching staff are too busy on twitter congratulating other teams in our league on what great signings they are making...

Why did you put in an err halfway through the sentence. Did you forget what you were going to say?

I am confident we should know more names by the end of these week as we all know players in higher leagues are contracted till Sunday and some could be our targets.

We signed our first player last season on 21st June (Wilks) and five more on the 24th June. At this stage last season we had 8 signed players - and look how many we ended up with! Still plenty of time in my view

I would like (some) news on some of last year's squad as well.

I realise it will be impossible to keep most of them but personally I would still like to see more than Wilks, Mccallum and Anau retained from last season.

To my knowledge we have lost Mills (technically not ours), Kiernan, Orlu, Hill and CBB from last season but I only know that because their new club's announced them!

Would it be possible to start a new (sticky) thread for the 2019/20 squad so we can keep track on who either has signed or left? Also for those players from last season, we haven't heard anything about yet.

This can be updated when necessary.

Yeah you have to be nice so you can go from club to club every few months. Anyway we are getting praise for our coaches and signings too, from our (new) players  biggrin
