Despite the complete lack of information on various social media platforms we did actually play a friendly at Aveley last night which resulted in a 3-1 win.

Another artificial pitch although better than some we have played on and actually quite a nice little set up over there now. We played 4-4-2 with Oyinsan and Cosgrave up front. The former seems to be a bit short of fitness/sharpness at the moment but hopefully that will come. The latter was the star performer again for me adding two well taken goals to his all round effort and work rate. Cook started wide left but was not as effective in that position and Anau didn't look comfortable playing wide right which is definitely not his position. Dymond and Rooney in the middle who controlled the game in parts but gave the ball away far too cheaply at times. Swaine and Baghelou at centre back looked solid for the most part although the former made a daft tackle to concede a penalty in the first half. It looks like they will be the back four along with Anderson and Ming who both started last night. Green came on in the second half and scored from distance although the keeper probably should have done better. Agyemang and Prestedge also came on second half and the other subs I assume were trialists and/or academy lads??

No sign of Goldberg Junior, Okunghae, Mcallum , Jebb, Johnson and Coombes who I believe were all unavailable and/or injured so, if you add them all into the mix, then we don't appear to have a bad squad. Hopefully some/all of these will see some game time over the coming weekend so they can be available for selection on Saturday week.

Up the Wings!

Does anyone know what the situation is with Gavin Mcallum. Saw him warm up(?) at Margate and I havent seen him since. Is he still with us?

Thanks for the report. I really think starting Dymond and Rooney in the middle against Havant is dangerous. Anuas best position is probably centre midfielder and he needs a chance to play there in pre season. Jebb, Prestige, Rooney and Montel all currently seem unfit to me to play as box to box midfielders. Dymond is great as a ball winner, just dont rely on him to retain possession.

Surely he should be the back side of the team...
