You wouldn't know it was our first league game tomorrow, so I thought I would start the thread.  I've only seen 3 pre season games so will still be getting used to our new signings.

What do we expect in terms of starting XI

I think midfield is where we have a lot of options and with Cook out possibly play Rooney a bit wider?

Could be;

GK                         Dan Wilks

LB                          Joe Anderson

CB                         Jay Rich-Baghuelou

CB                          Rob Swaine

RB                           Sanchez Ming

Mid                        Julien Anau or Jack Jebb (if fit)

Mid                       Connor Dymond

L Mid/wing         Nathan Green

R Mid/wing         Luke Rooney

FW                         Aaron Cosgrave

FW                        Adam Coombes

I would be a bit more conservative as it's the first game and strong opposition on paper.

4-2-3-1 with Dymond and Anau/ Rooney behind Cosgrove, Jebb and Green supporting Coombes.

Full backs still worry me defensively.

With so many games in such a short place of time I expect some rotation and some changes in formation.

Guessing it is still 0-0 from the lack of updates. Just crazy that the new season has started already - the break goes so quick

No it is 1-1. Coombes equalised. It is all Havant though, Welling hanging on.

I thought we gave a good account of ourselves today. Apart from 15 mins at the start of the second half we did not look out of place against opposition who are one of the firm favourites in this league. IMO there were no stand out performances but it must be said that Wilks did not appear to put a foot wrong and the young centre half (Jay Rich) showed he was not out of his depth at this level. Early days but if we maintain resilient performances like today, then there is no reason why we should not maintain a reasonable position as the season progresses.

Fantastic point against the league winners this season on their own patch. Not sure many will go there this season and come back with anything. Win the next game and its an even better point. Bitter sweet as i truly believe had we kept Coombes last season we would have got promoted. Hopefully this season we will.

Pleased with the point and happy we didn't flood the midfield and still went with two up top. If we sat back and played only one up front I don't think we would have equalised as it was Brad's quick running that set up Coombes. Was a surprise Brad started considering the lack of pre-season matches but he looked very sharp Saturday and his diagonal running caused them problems in the first half.

We could have nicked it late on with the amount of corners we had but that would have been harsh on Havant. Wilks pulled off some good saves and proves him re-signing was quality and will earn us points.
