We've got our first trip away organised to Hungerford Town on Saturday 28th September.
We've checked trains. It looks like to get to Hungerford (hourly service) by 15:00 is a departure from Welling at 11:39, getting there at 14:11. On the way back, the train leaves at 16:50 (!) so you're stuffed waiting until 17:50 and into Welling at 20:30. Fares for walk-up/on-day are £29.30 or £19.35 on a Railcard.
The coach will be leaving the Belle at 11:00 (latest 11:15). We'll get to Hungerford by 13:30 and there's three pubs on the hit list: John O'Gaunt, Downgate and Plume. There's plenty of time for lunch and then the match. When the whistle goes, we're straight on the bus to the Nag's Head in Reading, which usually has 12 beers on the go. We'll be there for just under an hour and then back to the Belle by 20:45. Here's hoping the chances of a seat, USB power, air-conditioning and 'straight to the door' without any faces in armpits will do the trick and tease people off trains onto coaches (or even encourage new away people who hadn't planned to go due to the ballache).
The fare for the coach is £25 per person. In the event that we beat 19 people (19 seat bus), we can get a 29-seater and the fare goes down to £20. If people can book on the basis of £25, we will hand out fivers to early bookers who are due a rebate on the morning. Tea and coffee will be on offer before we go (from 10:30) as the day before is the World's Biggest Coffee Morning so every tea and coffee (nominal £1 a cup) as well as toast sold will go straight to MacMillan.
If you want to get on board, email us at thekentishbelle@gmail.com and give us your details, or pop into the Belle and we'll take the fare money. I'll also be at the Wings at 14:30 this Saturday before Oxford and hopefully with a pint of Trelawny to support the club (thanks WUSA).
Hopefully we can fill the 29-seater and have a bloody good afternoon out!
Hey everyone. Right, there's some A4s going up at the game today but we've got a couple of seats left so if you want to help us fill the bus then please do make sure to get in touch.
Email us on thekentishbelle@gmail.com or pop into the Belle after the game and we can sort you out. I'll be there today in a purple shirt so you can't miss me!
