Shame about the sendings off. Thought the second one was harsh.
If Jebb needs game time, surely after the second dismissal his time was due?
As for the game, professional performance with no great shakes.

As for real ale, if you are going to mount a keg adjacent to the bar, have someone next to it to serve it.

I had a couple and once I asked at the bar was served promptly where the keg was.

It was a shame that the Tavistock team didnt get the support from the traveling support they deserved. Instead those so called supporters decided to spend their time calling every player in red Youre **** ,wanker ,donkey , tosser etc. When a Welling player went down injured it was Get up you ****. When their players were sent off I wont say what abuse the ref got. Apparently they started out at 6.30am. They had obviously been drinking since that time. They seemed to be having a really good time but they really didnt have much interest in the actual football. I hope they had a safe journey home. I expect not many of them will remember much of the day or how their team actually played. I dont envy their hangovers on Sunday.

A good professional performance by the team who demonstrated the difference in class, but credit to Tavistock who continued to put in the effort despite conceding. The sending offs made the result certain and I felt we were not playing at top pace.

so job done, now we look for a good draw in the next round and to taking recent good performances into the league next Saturday

Brad's first-half finishing the difference over a Tavistock side who had more about them than Chipstead and probably have the consolation of scoring the day's best goal. But, and while the second red card was harsher than the first, both challenges really were regional league tackling at its ugliest.

To all at Welling - now that the game is over I would like to thank all associated with the club for their friendliness and hospitality. Hopefully those fans in attendance will have enjoyed having us to create a great atmosphere. The girls behind the bar enjoyed it so much that they were asking if we could play there every week.
It was a long day - and it was great to see our lads give you stronger opponents a run for your money.
At least we didnt get the hammering some of you predicted.
Good luck in the next round - lets hope you get a 500 mile round trip lol.
All the best
The Shearer

4-1 is a hammering and even though the wings played poorly it could have been more couldn't it?. We have done 17 seasons of National League round trips including many midweek and getting home at 5:00am, been there done that and got many many T-shirts.

Wouldn't be a problem. We have been to Truro many times and when we were in the national league we had Gateshead in midweek twice, and many other away games that were longer than that.

4-1 is a hammering against a side three tiers below you and playing 40 minutes with 10 men and 15 minutes or so with 9. Thank God you are such a polarised supporter and hopefully you will become a club legend.

As for Tavistock we will re group and go again next week in the FA Vase.

Anyway to the sensible ones amongst you - good luck in the next round.

Goldberg could have had five! Build up to their goal worth a mention, and the strike a gem. Both reds were bang on. One was studs, one off the ground. Good luck to Tavistock in the FA Vase.

The name of the game is qualification come what may and we achieved that. However the performance for me was far from professional...

Whether we thought it would be a walk in the park like Chipstead or not, we started off like a pre season friendly and never picked the pace up and imposed ourselves on the game. Far too many fancy flicks and tricks being attempted, especially when we had the extra player(s), and far too many "Hollywood" passes attempted when we should have been moving the ball far quicker and far easier. The games was done after the first red card which was nailed on although I think the second one might have been harsh as I was quite near to it and I think the lad caught him on the follow through. I think the higher up the pyramid you go the more these challenges are frowned upon - you might get away with it in the Western league but clearly not on Saturday. Well done to Goldberg on his hattrick although he might have had two match balls by the end of the game and good to see Oyinsan netting as well. I should give some credit to Tavistock who worked hard throughout and never threw the towel in despite the numerical disadvantage - they certainly put up a better fight than Chipstead in the previous round.

The draw has been extremely kind to us so far and I hope that lasts for one more round (at least)! Avoiding a Conference National team would be great and obviously a home draw as well but if we draw someone away from home below National South level there will be no complaints from me!

Up the Wings!

Thanks for your honest appraisal and good luck against Eastleigh in the next round. Sorry if we were a bit vocal at times, but we were there to do whatever we could to get our boys through. Goldberg apart, I am sure we didnt see the best of Welling as a team, but on the whole we were all made to feel welcome and thank you for that.

Best regards to all

You dont get away with much, the refs are of a similar standard - but straight Reds for both is harsh. The difference is the higher through the leagues you go, you perhaps know how to "Con" the ref a bit smarter. I'm not condoning either tackle, but a bit of common sense bearing in mind what the game meant to all of the lads on saturday may have been a bit more approriate. Neither one Ben Cross or Josh Robins are the kind of guys to intentionally hurt an opponent. Just saying.

That's fair enough but rules are rules - you can't change those based on the fact it meant a lot to them. Having watched it back you I don't see how you can disagree with either red. Maybe not malicious in intent, but both very dangerous.

Tend to disagree with this because both tackles were Red card offences and the ref did well, especially on the second wasn't so obvious, but he left the ground - albeit not by much....and it was a tackle on Dymond who probably dished one or two out!

Those cards are where we are, the game has moved on from tackles.....it's all about the interception! #Shootmenow

I'm sure that Danny Mills (on loan at Welling last season) isn't the type of player to deliberately Injure a rival but he received a red card for an accidental elbow in the face in a match.

Yet three St Alban's players were fighting each other (including a head-butt) in the same match and only one yellow card was shown!

I disagree. I could guarantee you based on past evidence of our games against League sides that if any of our players put in tackles like that on their players they would get sent off. About the only time I'd have a doubt would be if it is televised as the ref would come under greater scrutiny for doing so. Would we agree with the decision every time, like you, probably not, but that is the way it is and probably has been for about 20 years.

It might not alays look like it but the game gets faster generally the further up you go so whilst you make the decision and, by and large get there in time in your own league, your margin for error reduces greatly the further up you go. And yes, the further up you go, the less keen most are to put up with being kicked and are more vocal about it.

Probably a good job for us the first guy walked otherwise Mr Waldren might have been 'robust' in return.....
