A wins a win. Would we have won if it was 11 v 11. I doubt it. HHFC gave as good as they got even with a man down. We didnt have the craft to finish them off until late in the game. Im still not too convinced. We have good players for the most part but a team..Sadly no.
I wish wed have started Moses up top rather than Brad. Its a slightly fortunate win but an important win nonetheless. Hemel are a very decent team. I hope Montel keeps his place now that Waldren has served his suspension.

I kind of reiterate on some of the above comments. 11 v 11, we wouldn't have got much out of that game.
The first 20 minutes were played mainly in our half.
Some nice one touch possession by the touch line adjacent to the main stand frustrated Hemel and their forward lunged with a frustrated late tackle.
11 v 10 and the game evened out. We saw more of the ball and thereby started to show signs of threatening.
Good result for Welling and agree with earlier posters that Goldburg Jnr needs to be given a rest.
Still, a wins a win.
Thought Cookie played really well and every ball he put over was quality and were hard to defend against. Montel stayed a bit deeper and put some nice touches and passes around. Shame the ref constantly blew his whistle and was giving anything and everything, especially if you gave him a wink and bit of chat.
My losing streak of games attended comes to an end - thank Christ for that.....was starting to think it might be me!
Was glad when the second goal came as I thought that the lack of confidence started to show in the second half - we retreated a bit too much and seemed like we got stuck between wanting to protect the one goal lead we had and finishing it off. Green made a difference from the bench - finally had someone up there who was winning flick ons and giving their centre halves something to worry about. I listened to MG's interview after the Dorking game and he clearly knows that the Goldberg-Coombes partnership just doesn't work - its too lightweight in a league where I've yet to see a team who don't have two big lumps playing at centre half. There has to be a Mills type player up front to shoulder the donkey work and allow a second striker like Coombes to do what he does best.
If we can make that one key change then on the evidence of what I've seen there's enough about us to be comfortably mid-table. If we play another dozen or so games with those two up front however, I can see us sliding backwards
Not the best game I've ever seen but we had some great play in places, especially the move that Green just put wide. However a win is a win no matter how it comes, and a clean sheet will hopefully build some confidence.

A good three points against one of the better teams, at least we are on an upward curve lately and racking up some points to ease relegation worries. Hopefully they can keep going and have a late go at the last play off spots to rescue the season.
A good win against a good side albeit that they were reduced to 10 men. Having listened to MGs interview I do not think he does Nathan Green justice. He came on chased everything and, for a change, won everything in the air and worried a very competent defence every time he got the ball. Lets hope the incoming man can have a similar effect!

In three words I can sum up everything i've learnt in life; it goes on.
Well I wasn't expecting to get three points out of that game beforehand so that was a very welcome boost.
No doubt that Hemel are a decent (if unpredictable side) and with 11 v 11 we were pinned back with them attacking the road end and certainly having the better of the game in my opinion. Of course the red card was the turning point of the game and it helped us no end. It is irrelevant what would have happened had it stayed 11 v 11 and its not our fault that their bloke has made a daft challenge and helped us out considerably. I remember being at Weymouth earlier this season when Dymond was sent off for a stupid tackle and, despite a good rearguard action, we eventually lost the game. I think we would have taken at least a point in that game had both teams had their full compliment. That time it cost us - this time it was in our favour.
I still think we could have moved the ball a bit quicker and could/should have created more from open play. However we did put some good set pieces in on Saturday and took advantage of that. I think we all agree that Goldberg and Coombes doesn't work as a pairing but it appears we had very little else to choose from and/or were fit enough to play instead. The young lad at right back Johnson showed up well again and interesting to see what happens selection wise now that Ming is available once again....Both centre halves coped well although again they had less numbers to deal with after the red card. The man to "make it stick" is still out there somewhere although, as MG alluded to in his interview, we will have some departures to balance up the arrival(s) Personally I am still not convinced that one/two new centre forwards is the solution to our woes but we will see in the fullness of time.
A free hit next week in the Trophy before five league games in two weeks either side of the holiday period. I don't really want a draw either as it's just one more game in a very hectic schedule - I hope we go full out for the win and not for a replay despite that being a decent result on paper. Hopefully the walking wounded will be fit, the suspensions will be done and we can have a fully fit squad to choose from for what will be a very important part of our league season.
