Who would have thought it?

New manager, under-performing manager and poor coaches leave, train twice a week. Play well at league leaders then win two matches on the trot.

Excellent, especially as we were down to 10 men for most of the match. St Albans will not be looking forward to our visit there next week, but when do the loan players go back?

2-0 win. Away from home. Down to 10 for more than half the match. Clean sheet. Happy days. Well done to the Management and squad. Every single point counts. COYW.

The clear difference is leadership.
We had clearly done our homework on their goalkeeper.
Every cross aimed high and a couple of yards out.
That the goalkeeer couldn't catch the ball lead to our second.

Thought the sending off was harsh, it was a 50/50 challenge that you see every week in non league.
Rolt is an honest player. There was no malice in that challenge.
Ironically, their centre forward got only a yellow for a challenge on someone's head with his elbow
Hemels manager substituted him straight after the red card to protect having eleven on the pitch.
Why else would you substitute a forward when you are against ten men?

The constant communication from the bench and general team shape is exactly what has been missing

If Goldburg had anything about him, he would openly admit he is s*** at anything to do with the playing side of football and his assistants are/were s*** as well.

No longer a struggle putting the effort to watch them, but actually a pleasure.

Well done lads.

Never a straight red in my book either and he should have carded theirs for the challenge that left out player needing treatment. Thought the ref got better after the break though. He was letting things go for the first 20 minutes but lost it until the second half.

After seeing them not give the ball back after we kicked it out for their injured player along with several fouls on us and the red card incident the atmosphere behind the goal could have got much worse.

Very good battling performance with ten men and actually could have scored more late on.

Great performance, feared the worse after harshly going down to 10 men. (Elbows ok, challenging in 50 50's not so). But the team dug in and deservedly won. The management team deserve alot of credit, mentality across the club so much better, players fighting for the cause.

Its surprising how few comments we have on here now that weve won a couple of games. When we were losing posters had a lot to say. I think the new management and recently arrived players would appreciate a more positive reaction to the upturn in results. At last we have a manager, coaches and a rejuvenated squad who deserve praise. Lets let them know and feel it. COYW

Brilliant result especially after being down to 10 for so much of the game. Was listening to the commentary and they were full of praise for Welling and were adamant that we will go up the league. Well done to everyone who dug in to get that result. Now on to next week and hopefully 3pts at St Albans

Highlights on line.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fT4d9Mncnw

I thought at the time that their forward looked before he flung his arm.  The video confirms that.  The commentator (and most of the people around me) thought he was extremely lucky not to have been sent off.

To have Bradley sent off a few minutes later for what was a marginally late connection is frustrating.  It wasn't the first time we had a decision go against us controversially - one of our players (can't remember who) was cleaned out on the half way line only to be penalised for what the referee deemed was a high foot.  One of the previous posts mentioned the referee had a better (more balanced) second half, which is true.  In the first half he was a "homer".

What was pleasing was the reaction of the players, no "violent" arguments with the referee and non stop running to make up for the man short.  Long may this continue.

Great performance and great result at the weekend especially the way the game unfolded.

What a difference getting some new young players in has made. You can tell that the team are already looking sharper all over the pitch but having legs in the middle of the park has made a massive difference in the last few games and especially at the weekend when we were a man short for the best part of an hour. At the time I thought the red was very harsh but it looked like he had lost control slightly and overstretched for the ball and caught their defender but the referee couldn't wait to get the red card out of his pocket. That was strange in itself as not long before our centre half was assaulted and yet he only issued a yellow. If that "challenge" was an accident then he ticks the bloke off, if it was deliberate then it is a red card all day long - quite how he arrived somewhere in between was baffling to say the least..?!

Whilst the two young lads in the midfield have taken a lot of the plaudits (and rightly so) I think the two centre halves were excellent on Saturday. The young lad from Huddersfield looks a real player in the making and since he has come in Joseph has really done well in helping to organise the defence. We don't look the biggest team physically but we stood up to a lot of set pieces and long throws on Saturday and invariably won the first challenge. I am not sure Green is an out and out full back but he had a strong game at the weekend and I am even more sure that Dymond is not a full back but he did well against a dangerous opponent and made a vital goal line clearance in the first half to protect our lead. We know the keeper is decent so if we can get organised in front of him and limit the opposition chances (as we did very well at Hemel) then we have always got a chance in any game. Good to see the two forwards score and both worked hard when on the pitch. A real shame for young Rolt that his full debut was cut short and the ban will now effectively end his month loan spell. The manager has alluded to getting him back again although he might look for another option for the next three games at least..??

A much better atmosphere around the club now and credit to MG for stepping aside and for what looks like, if the early games are anything to go by, to be a very shrewd appointment. It seems the players are buying in to what BQ and his staff want and are all pulling in the same direction. A long way to go yet to get out of trouble (and another six pointer next weekend) but we are definitely going in the right direction and only going to get fitter and stronger in the weeks ahead.

Up the Wings!

After watching the incident with the elbow how can the ref give a yellow? It's a red if he saw it - which he did as he was up with play looking directly at it. Their player even had a sly look first and knew what he was doing, totally out of order.

As for the 50/50, as that's all it was, Rolt kept his feet on the ground (looks like his knee caught the bloke as he went down). The ball was there to be won.

Great characters in the team now despite 10 v 12

The yellow/red card incidents would be shocking if wasmt for knowing the usual standard of refs at this level. Midson has always been a c##t and when they were in charge at Concord it was always a tasty affair.

Finally got a fresh look to the team, recruitment knowledge outside the south circular helps.
Get safe, then save the budget and let him have a decent go next season would be my hope.
