Functionality of FlashScore is quite good here in looking at things like:
- Current record (Welling 3W, 1D, 1L and Maidstone 4L, 1W but all 4 losses in succession to now)
- Previous meetings
- Form table (Maidstone 21st in 5, Welling 5th!)

Confident for tomorrow - looking forward to going to the Flower Pot. Remember folks direct trains from Bexleyheath and Barnehurst to Strood so only one change; and it's an easy journey so do get down there and have a great day out!

In the lead up to game and up to half time I thought we could come away with something. However in the second half we were not at the races and ended up well beaten. Somebody much wiser than me said that football is a matter of opinion but I do-not feel the set up was right today, lacking in the middle of the park and toothless up front. However, that is said with a large dollop of hindsight and I do feel we missed Nathan Green on the left, who I presume was injured . What is particularly galling is that this was a poor Maidstone side which was rubbed in by the reception we got, searched on the way in and penned into a side area. I do not know what they were expecting but, at this level, totally uncalled for.

Nathan Green is ill.

There was no training on Thursday because Bromley was flooded and I think that it showed.

Segregation is required because they cannot control their supporters but the need to put away supporters in a tiny corner and searching is ludicrous.

Bad day at the office and the worst performance under BQ - but he will know that and I will certainly trust him to put it right. Didnt help with the changes we had to make.

Chatham was the birthplace of the chav but Maidstone must be right up there!

Great day out - awful 90 minutes. By far the worst performance under BQ but he certainly can be forgiven for that and ultimately the players need to be accountable - they didn't show up at all and we got what we deserved

Final word for the Maidstone little chav fans - c++++! There, that's the word

That was a couple of weeks ago. They claimed their first point for a long time yesterday.

Their fans, well those near us, reminded me of baby Woking fans who were always far more "lively" when there was a good distsnce between us and them. Still they'll be back to school on Monday bigging up their exploits.

Disappointing game, performance and ultimately result on Saturday. With them being on a poor run and us having improved away from home I was confident of getting (at least) a point. We started quite brightly although they did trouble us from set plays a few times. The turning point was probably the chance that Wright had midway through the first half - had we taken the lead then a fragile Maidstone team might have folded.

Second half was comfortably the worst 45 minutes under the tenure of BQ (although Chippenham wasn't much better) Granted Maidstone did improve after taking the lead but we just looked slow and lethargic all over the pitch. Our passing and movement of the ball was far too slow even after going two down. We got one back wiith a penalty but it would have been daylight robbery had we stolen a point at the end.

One thing that worries me is, although we have some depth in the squad, we are very lopsided in certain positions. The loss of RCN to injury was a huge blow but hopefully he will be back and at least we have now signed another defensive option. We have two full backs and if one or both are injured then we are in trouble although Dymond has filled in quite well at times when needed. In contrast we finished the game on Saturday with five strikers on the pitch although none of them are natural wide players and nobody seemed quite sure where they were playing..?? Roberts appeared to be floating around in midfield while young Rolt didn't seem quite sure what his role was - the former has been a prolific goalscorer at this level previously but hasn't got any for us yet while the latter has to play as a second striker and look to get in behind for me when he is on the pitch. The only two wide options in the squad were both playing full back (maybe both down to injury to be fair) We badly missed Green on the left side at both ends of the pitch and we do have a dearth of left footed players in the squad. Despite appearing to have all these attacking riches we are the lowest scorers in National League South (lest we forget we scored six on one game as well...) and at the moment it seems to be Akinyemi and any two others to occupy the forward positions and that just isn't working for me. Of course I do understand that this is not all down to BQ and his staff as he inherited most of these players but we do need to find a better balance somehow.

Hoping we can bounce back against Billericay on Saturday and have a positive end to the season.

Up the Wings!
