Can someone please help me understand how anyone can "take over" a community interest company, who operate a premises owned by the Council? Genuine question, apologies if being thick.

Fingers crossed someone who actually has the interests of the club at heart. Too many clubs being brought by owners seeking to make a quick buck. Not MG's biggest fan but sometimes the grass isnt always greener.

I'm of the same opinion. Whoever is making the take over can only be buying the Welling Utd name and the football club. Possibly their part of the lease. The pitch the main stand and other buildings on the Welling side are owned by their council. I presume E&B own their building and stand and joint hold the lease
Whoever is joining the main man they need to be able to walk the walk not just talk a good game and they need to have the finances to at least sort the club off the pitch and help be competitive in this league. No one is demanding we go up in the next two or three years but we should be more than good enough to flirt with the play offs and be top half.

The one guy who I'm thinking of has a good model, not far off the Boreham Wood model. That can't be bad.
The lease is an issue. MG is so many things I can't write here without getting into liable territory, so whoever buys the club needs to be sure they are not over a barrel.
In terms of going up: the league has been piss poor for a few years now, and we should have gone up, it's Conf South FFS! The next few years will be another breeze, provincial clubs just won't have the money.... COYW !!!

Conveniently forgetting that they (and by extension their employees) don't have the same expenses as London clubs either (the likes of Truro being a possible exception).
