What a difference a year makes

As I live and work away from home I can only visit PVR at Christmas time. I attended the Dartford home game last year and what was very evident then was this was a club in decline both on and off the field. No passion from the dugouts and the manager missing on holiday !! Plus the ground lookEd like it had been seriously neglected. As a fan for many years this was a worry.

I attended the game v E&B on Saturday and what a difference a year makes !! Superb COVID procedures from Matt and team in place as soon as you arrive at PVR. And the Courtyard with the new marquee and food outlet looking extremely professional and very well run. Burgers were superb too !! I was fortunate to spend time with Garry (we played football together 35 years ago !!) and Paul and the ambition of these two was very clear to see. I have no doubt they will get the club to where they want it to be. I also noticed in the Exec Lounge the togetherness of the Club with Academy coaches and the ladies team all there. Ive not seen this side of the club since The Hobbins family and Jamie Day worked very well together to create that atmosphere.

I also saw a manager and his team showing real passion from the dugout and I believe he will build a team to challenge for promotion over time. He has been successful in this division before and I am sure will be so again

The real master stroke in my opinion is having many people who genuinely love the club doing various bits of work for the club. Having these guys who have been around PVR for many years and know the club better than anyone helping shows great management in my opinion.

A group of mates and me , all Welling boys, will be sponsoring the game this Saturday and looking forward to seeing our club rise again.

Have to echo a lot of what's been said here.

The passion and enthusiasm of Gary, Paul and Matt is clear for all to see. We are building the foundations from the ground floor up with the Academy, Ladies and Deaf teams all going strong. Communication is also greatly improved and people are coming up with more innovation week by week - long may it all continue...

However the club to some extent remains in limbo. The day to day running is going well and I am sure they are all working hard with the management ream to try and bring success on and off the pitch. I am not quite sure where the chairman fits into all this and what he brings to the table but, ultimately, he remains responsible for the football club.

I feel there needs to be clear guidelines and a pathway forward that we all understand and can all get behind and that is definitely the "gang of three" for me.

What do other Wings fans think...??

Echo this entirely. The three Directors are pro-active with ambitions to take us forward which are sensible and not pie in the sky as we have seen before. If anyone wants evidence of how seriously they take matters, just look at the effort Matt has put in over the past months which has led to, I believe, a successful trial match which means we can enjoy some football whilst we remain in Tier 2. Having said that the ultimate decision maker in the Club (Chairman & owner) has been noticeable by his absence to the rank and file supporters within the Club. It would be nice to know where he stands, whether he is with us for the future (or not) and what pathway he sees the Club following and whether he is going to play an active part in it. If the plans re the pitch and PVR development, large and small come to fruition we should have a bright future, the family feeling seems to be coming back and long may it continue.
